Master Brake Cylinder Identification Help

Can anyone tell me what year master cylinder I am looking at based on the stamped #23128 ? If so can you tell me the route you took to do it so I can try it myself next time? Knowing what master cylinder I have is the key that unlocks the door to my next questions. THANKS

It sounds like your trying to use a casting number, which will tell you virtually nothing.

Tell us what the part is off of and post a picture and we may better help you, but posting a casting number won't do any good normally.

I always try to avoid this part....I bought a 60 frame with 56 body, call it a "drinking accident". Well it's mine now and I will never pass it on to anyone else. I think they used the 60 pedals and brake master because the master is mounted on the firewall and the pedal assembly attaches to the dash and the firewall. The pedals pivot from the top of the assembly. The master has four mounting bolt holes at the rear to mount it to the firewall like most newer model cars and trucks. I will try to get a picture soon. I know this description is not enough to identify the year but maybe enough to say what it's not.How does this master and pedal assembly differ from an unmolested 56? Thanks

The '56 mounts under the floor.
