David.. It usually goes away on it's own after a few minutes

Is that upgrade for the 2006 model year or earlier?? Mine is an 06

Actually they did it in all the 2010 and up, there is no TSB on it but they do have a ford service listing it as a sticky steering. Yes it does go away by itself too but a quick way to tell is to shut it off and start it back up, if it goes away, put the updated resivour in it, you can compare the two side by side, it's just a cotton filter down the hole, when you look down it, we have had the problem on several of our trucks and I put the updated resi on all the trucks and have never had the problem come back. It's dirt sticking in the pump and box causing the hard steering. Ford knows about it but I think there afraid to have a recall that sounds like that!! Lose of steering while traveling 60 MPH on the thruway, you know. But I bet ya if you get a new resivour it will have a filter in it, not just a plastic bottle.

Thanks David..

Sounds like a cheaper fix than Replacing the steering box

I learned the hard way, pump and than the box. Then a friend at my local Ford dealership told me on the down low. It's scary when it happens, right? you can still steer but the wheel wont return and sometimes it's like manual steering all over again.

Yeah, exactly....

I was thinking it felt like a stuck hydraulic valve and was thinking of draining all the fluid thinking there was crap in there..

Do you buy a specific reservoir or are they all modified now???

Good evening woodchucks. Been so busy I forgot to check in. Been a blah day weather wise. But I got the battery into the motorcycle and I plan to ride to a board meeting in Burlington tomorrow unless it is pouring.

Helped Helen out with foster dogs today - she got one placed and took in one more and has that one placed as of the end of the week. I got to drive her around to deliver dogs with the truck since her car was in getting new rotors and pads on the rear. But it works a lot better when there are pads in the calipers. She was down to metal. Rotors were shot anyway - 60,000 miles on the rears is pretty decent if you ask me. Wasn't much left of the rotors.

Off to bed and gone all day tomorrow. Have a good one guys.
