Wow, totally missed most of this debate in the South Dakota legislature... I heard about the 6 cent gas tax increase, but looks like will also be paying 4% sales tax on car/trucks now... up from 3%.
The big news is the speed limit is now 80mph on the interstates. I've been "practicing" that for a while now anyway, lol.

Morning George... Yeah, the states have been waiting for a drop in gas prices to tack on some more taxes. People won't notice as much now. Then a couple years from now, the roads and bridges will still be crumbling and they'll raise the taxes again. Never ends.
Most people around here already do 80mph on the interstate. I'm sure the state patrol will enforce the limit more now.

Hi Jim.
NY doesn't "rob Peter to pay Paul" ,.....too much. It would be nice if our "Educational Lottery" funds actually went to education. All the roads in NY are going to be in rough shape when it thaws. So NY will need to raise more money for repairs....

I'm not sure if they do or not. The roads here are generally pretty decent... some of the cities and towns are awful, I assume because of local politicians mismanaging things.
