Zf-5 compatiblity

I need to come up with a zf-5 speed for a 7.3 diesel 4wd. I have 7.3 zf-5 speed 2wd. I also have a 7.5 zf-5 4wd. Can put the front half of 7.3 zf-5 on the 7.5 gears and rear half. I will have to check again the 7.5 tranny might be a zf-5-47. If they are both s42. Will this work. I really don't care if there is a difference in ratios.

Yes and no.
Physically it should bolt up. However, the bearing preload will likely need to be adjusted.
