2012 6.7 EGR Tubes Leaking

Well at 200,008 miles it's time to change mny newly leaking EGR pipes. Is there gaskets that goes with these parts? difficult to install? Part numbers? I saw some Dorman replacements on Amazon for a decent price but no "installation kit".

Thanks!

I've got carbon blowing all around that area. The heat also melted my windshield washer 'T" attatched to the hood of the truck

It's the longer one with the attached support for a bolt. The bolt came out somewhere within 200,000 miles of towing so perhaps it vibrated the stainless braided part enough to cause a leak. It's either that or the egr cooler is clogged and the braided part is the weakest point. I've got two new parts to install. Dorman replacements. I do need the bolt though so I'm going to Lowe's to see if they have a bolt in whatever thread pitch is in there. If this doesn't work out I'll be looking at some other type parts to fix it permanently

I believe the bolt is a M6x1.00 (I think, the ones in the pipes are) if it's on the bracket, you can improvise. Be extremely careful removing the bolts from the old egr pipe, very common for them to shear off and it is a bitch getting to them. I snapped mine off and then the extractor, so I'm really f@#*ed.......

Do you have a Fastenal store around you? They usually have a better assortment of thread pitches & grades.

With 200,000 on the clock, I get rid of all that crap.....I wouldn't replace the pipes, I'd remove them!

RigTrash601, thanks for the reply.. I agree with ripping that stuff out. I scoped it out yesterday and noticed that the flange bolt heads are way small, smaller than I thought would be in such a get hot then cold environment. I can actually see where the carbon is blowing out of the braided part of the pipe. It's blowing carbon toward the windshield and actuall melted the windshield washer "T". I have a feeling that the cooler is clogged anyway and the braided section may be the weakest link in the gizmo. I don't think I have all the toold to the rip out kit so I'm up for suggestions..

You can get a programmer, remove the dpf, unplug the EGR cooler and blank off the two ends of the long pipe. If yours wasn't leaking, you could just unplug egr and butterfly valve. Wish I'd had went that route! they sell dpf delete pipes pretty cheap.

Sounds like the proper treatment would be an EGRectomy.
