They reinvested most of their weight savings into frame and suspension updates so the new models will only be about 350 lighter.

I'm fine with that - pulling a heavy trailer, I want a heavy truck. A 350 lb weight loss is right on target. New chassis looks great.

EPA Anti-engineering and Crony Capitalism! Back in like 2008 the manufacturers dropped their suit against the EPA and CARB. Why? Increased revenue due to extra maintenance and repair cost. Oil companies agreed to drop it cause what oil company doesn't want to sell more fuel. It's a joke that they are allowing anti-science cults to reverse engineer our resources creating $Billion$ in wasted resources and materials. They can create all of the Green we make our interiors out of vegetable propaganda videos they want. What idiot use a food source for materials? I have a 1983 Ford Ranger Diesel that gets 39 Mpg. That's 30 years ago. All of our 90's Powerstrokes once slightly modified were able to return over 20 Mpgs. With the ratios now available they could easily get mid 20's and with small tires and in a 2wd and 3.00 gears would probably see 30 Mpgs all day long. Modern manufacturers are little more than hustling people for every last penny. Yes I can afford all the cameras and whistles that cool, but over 50% of people once it's out of warranty won't be able to afford to repair the transmission. With the level of 3rd World Labor we are importing the engineers and marketing bunch have forgotten that wages are stagnated and people can't afford the $50k cars they are buying. Sooner or later markets are going to break the system. Nothing about our current markets says sustainability or conservation.

Two things come to mind...

1.) I knew this would morph into the best thread on the entire forum soon as we got to see the 2017 SD.

2.) This guy needs to run for president.

Great post.

This was on Fox News, "The supers will be offered with a choice of a 6.7-liter turbo diesel, 6.8-liter gasoline V10, or 6.2-liter gasoline V8. Ford has not yet revealed any power outputs, payload and towing capacities, but says they will all be “more” than the trucks they replace."
Does that mean the V10 will be in the F250?

No. The V10, since 2011, has been available in the chassis cab trucks only. This will stay the same.

For the love of god, please tell me they put a real sized gas tank on the 6.7 SB? That tiny 25 or 26 gallon tank was an absolute joke!

I agree. It may be while before that info comes out. But I hope they increase the tank size.

They will probably do what they did on the F150. Make it smaller and charge more for a larger tank.

At least you would have an option. Now if you get the PS you get a too small tank and no option. I'm hoping Ford figures out a way the have a full sized tank. It looks like the pollution stuff takes up all the room now.

Exactly. When I'm towing my RV, which can weigh up to 19k depending on loading of the garage, I can't make it two hours on the highway without needing to refuel. The short bed tanks are very anemic.

It would seem though, that Ford is implementing many popular aftermarket upgrades. Trailer TPMS. Trailer back up cam. Power folding steps like the AMP units. Maybe they will add a larger OEM tank like the Titan or Transferflow.

My 09 F150 crew cab with a 5.4 has a 36 gallon fuel tank. But the same Crew cab in a F350 SD with a Power Stroke (short bed) is only available with a 26 gallon fuel tank. That's wrong. Hoping for change.

That's because they had to make room for the DEF tank. Before DEF there was a larger short bed tank on the SD's.

Yeah, with a diesel you can cut the vent tube and the old "28 gal" tank magically holds 32 gallons instantly. I can get almost 600 miles a tank out of my short bed.
