Hey guys, picked up my 1966 Ford F-100 the other day, its got the 240ci Straight-6, 3 On the Tree Manual with the Borg Warner Overdrive, 2WD with 4.11 Rear Gears, Custom Cab, original paint as far as I can tell, very clean and nearly rust free, it drives great and I'm very happy to have bought it!
The truck looks great, congratulations on what looks like an original, and complete truck.
Have to ask, what size, and type of tire does it have on it now. I'm going for the original look for my 66, but it had mag wheels with white letter tires.
I like the look of the original tires, but for a metric radial I think the 235/75/15 looks nice, especially with a more aggressive tread. Here are the ones on my truck. The white letters could be placed inside if you wanted all black yankbs.
Very nice! I'm probably gonna grab some period correct street or offroad tired from Coker tire when these wear down, anyone know the correct standard size?
That is a really stinkin nice truck but I would lose the fram filter if you want the 240 to keep going! What do you think of the manual overdrive, I am thinking of swapping one into my 64!
Thanks guys Yeah, I have a Motorcraft filter sitting in my garage, gonna change the oil asap, along with all the other fluids. As far as the manual overdrive, I'm not entirely sure its 100% functional, it doesn't seem to shift into it when i let off the gas above 28mph.
Awesome Truck!! Love the 6 cyl with the OD! It should have a handle to the right of the steering wheel, similar to parking brake position, but on right side for the OD, I think with it in the "in" position, which is towards the firewall, it is ON, so when you are cruising and let off throttle, it should kick in,,, IIRC. And when you floor it, it should kick out. The one I drove worked that way,,, always wanted to find another one. Congrats on your new truck! It is beautiful, and a great engine/trans/OD combo! You will love it!
