Thanks for the welcome back! A lot of people came back on Sat. Most of us are back now, and getting re-integrated!
Been a long weekend, recovering and also doesn't help the dentist in KU ****ed something up, and my whole mouth got infected, hence the pain I was in, and why percs weren't working like they should. So now they are taking care of me here, just one more reason I hate getting any dental work done!
Critter, I don't have a bricknose, it would be an Aeronose! We just know it as an OBS 7.3 though And I'm pretty good on the parts right now! Cosmetic stuff mostly, but all that can wait for a while, kinda want the old girl to run good again!

I know that feeling. Still tinkering on the Beast to get it running smooth. At least it's quiet. I had the exhaust installed last month.

What kind of work have you done on the beast? I know for me a 3" DP -> 4" exhaust is what I plan on doing. Quiet isn't the name of the game for me, muffler and cat delete pipes will be used. Since the truck is emissions exempt, I'm thinking straight piped will give me the best performance results.

Today I ordered Rockstar 17" wheels and 31-10.5 tires. I plan to use my two weeks off to hammer out some drive ability issues and shocks.

Are the heads ported at all? A stock head has a VE of 0.85, which means:
408 X (1/2 5000 rpm for a four stroke) X 0.85 divided by 1728 (12 cubed) = 501.735 CFM
VE = Volumetric Efficiency, which is how large a charge the cylinders take in based on porting, valves and cam timing, and intake system.
At 100 (1:1) the numbers would be:
590.2777... CFM
With a stock VE of .85 at 6,000 RPM the math comes to 602.08333 CFM, which means the carb would likely be at max somewhere around 6500 to 7000 RPM
* I have wanted to get into 4V per cylinder engines soon, and they make outrageous things possible. Depending on cam timing, at the pre-selected RPM range the VE can become 1.35 without turbo or supercharging - the engine acts like it already has one.
* I see also that it's an "M" block - with the thicker stockier mains. Are you by chance thinking of mounting a huffer or a stuffer on that once it's well worn in?

Running the stock mechanical fuel pump. The Street Demon has small primaries and a goggle shape butterfly for the secondaries. This means you can feed it with a stock pump. Any more demands, and I'd have to switch it out. Head bolts are ARP.
