If you have the title for a 53 why would you want to switch the cab to a 56 that won't match your title? After purchasing the Altman locks I think the original 56 lock design is the best and function much better.
The fact is at least here in the states, it will still "match" the title. The title is actually for the frame which is the defining part of the vehicle. If the title matches the serial # stamped in the frame, that truck, and/or any other vehicle that might use that frame will always legally be a 1953 Ford truck, doesn't matter if that frame is mounted with 56 sheet metal, 96 Yugo, fiberglass 68 Cobra replica, or has no bodywork on it at all, the resulting vehicle is legally still a 53 Ford pickup. This fact can be critical in some states that charge a recurring property or use tax based on market value, or has safety inspection/emissions inspection requiring equipment that was "original equipment" to the year of the vehicle.
The reverse is also true, if the OP replaced the 53 frame with one, just for an example and for the sake of absurdity, out of a 96 Volvo sedan but retained the 53 Flathead motor, tranny, front and rear axle, and all the 53 sheet metal, to register it he would need the title for the 96 Volvo frame in his name, and the vehicle, as long as it retained that frame would then for ever be a 96 Volvo sedan, would be valued for tax purposes as a 96 Volvo sedan, and be required to have all the inspectable emissions and safety equipment originally installed on a 96 Volvo sedan in place.
