I have a 96 explorer, and it will just shut off, but restart ok ,,any ideas

v-6 push rod motor

It has only done it 2 times in the last 2 weeks

one time I was driving slow, been running for about 20-30 min

The other time I had left it run ,while I ran in to pick up a pizza, and my wife said it just shut off, had been running around that day , but started it about 15 min earlyer

I fill it up before it hits 1/4 tank

 

We're going to need more detail than this to be of much help. Which engine does you Explorer have? Does it only do this when the temperature is above or below a certain limit? Is it only within 2 minutes of the time you start the engine? Is it only the first time you drive the truck for the day? Only after you hit a pothole in the road? Is it only when the fuel level gets below 1/4 tank? Have you tried anything to diagnose the issue such as check the fuel pressure, check for spark, etc. <- I realize this can be difficult since the truck always restarts.
