Sounds a lot less expencive than the alternatives we've been discussing and practical too.. Price seems ok if its all ready to go and doesnt need any serious attention.. Id prob jump on it if those RPMs are tolerable for you.. I cringe when I'm tirnin 2k down the highway.. Id rather be around 17-1800.. Course thats unloaded..

As a tow vehicle that would be alright. But I think you'll be a little higher than 26-2700. I don't know though so you could be right. Why not use a divorced transfer case.

They were something used more in the good ol days but you would have a drive shaft between the trans and transfer case. Look up NP205 divorced, they are a pretty common swap and I believe offered in all the "big brands". Although they are highly sought after

You can buy a T-case like I did with the factory parking brake on it

Very true, I don't know anyone that tows what you tow!

I tow a 6000 pound travel trailer with lots of stuff that adds up to a gross vehicle weight of about 15000 pounds, which just about maxes out my rig with the 3.55 axle. I've hauled it coast-to-coast with no problem and can depend on around 14 mpg doing it. So, I'm happy with the 3.55 and the E4OD, but much heavier and I'd have to regear.

Then again, I bet that little pink car in the back pushing helps too.

Well I think I found a solution for the moment. Yesterday I found out the f superduty uses a 4x4 trans. I so happen to have one in my 97 crew cab 4x4 on 40" tires that I hardly drive and will never tow a trailer so I don't figure I need the lower gear zf5 47 in it since it's got 4.10s. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna swap trans and just wait to I found a smoking deal on another zf5 47. Thanks for all your help and info. Now I just gotta try and talk my self into getting so bellowed up pipes while I got it about
