Your back and legs hurt yet? Standing on a stool, tow hooks and kneeling on the radiator support is not fun.
Cleaning the turbo is not a bad job, I was nervous about it but once in there it is fairly easy.
Good job!
Well let's see. Once I quit and sat down for a minute I stove up. My arms look like a got in a fight with a cat, I dumped about a gallon of coolant first thing so the floor is wet. On the plus side I only fell off the truck once and didn't break anything lol.
Ok so my synopses so far. This is NOT fun. There is way too much in the way to move to get to anything. The wire look and connectors is the biggest pia on the whole thing and it is attached in 1000 different places which makes it a pia to get it moved. Honestly if it weren't for the wiring harness this job would be a breeze---well other than being attached to the shroud but I haven't got to those yet. Overall not bad.....do I WANT to do it again--nope. I can say if and when I need hg and studs I'm not doing it myself
One plus is there are very few tools needed to get the top of the engine clear. Two sizes of torx bit, 4 sizes of socket, 2 sizes of wrench, a pair of pliers, a flat head screw driver, a crow bar, and penetrent. So far that's it.
There is an updated feed and drain tube for the turbo. The drain tube is a little bigger. The updated feed tube will not have the flex section on it, just a solid tube.

Yep I already have the updated feed tube. Not sure if the drain is updated or not--can tell yet.
I do remember the updated drain tube came with instructions. It said to measure and mark the tube with a marker, then insert it into the HPOP cover only to the mark. It was pretty simple.
Second session done. Intake and egr cooler out. Hope it's not a sign but the egr cooler is just sooted up no sign of water intrusion on the exhaust end but it hasn't been started since Sunday. On the other hand I am way glad to have it out. I cleaned my egr valve back in October I think and it looked just as bad when I pulled it. My intake is so full of soot I'm suprised im getting any air flow. Also the intake ports on the heads looks like tar--just plain nasty. I have alot of cleaning to do next and remove the uppipe. Oh and figure out a way to get the final intake elbow bolt with a rounded head off.
Pics from today

Nice work so far bro
.
Yep looking at it the tabs rest on the pedestal so seems it will only go one way. Today as I suspected wasnt bad and yesterday wouldn't have been near as bad if I was oriented lol. But just as suspected and someone posted on one of these threads it's way easier to get the wireing harness out of the way then go to town. So far 6 hours to remove turbo and 2 to remove the intake (don't laugh-first timer here) lol.
Tomorrow is cleaning day, remove the downpipe, and the last intake elbow bolt (head is rounded).
I have seen worse intakes but that looks like your getting to much blowbyfrom the ccv.
Check your CAC inlet/outlet for heavy oil sign. Your CAC may have a lot of oil in it.
It may need cleaning/boiling.
