wiring help
is it possible to buy a roll of wire and various terminals and rewire my truck or do i have to spend way to much money to buy a kit? really these trucks are not that difficult to wire, just a bunch of simple circuts. they wont be color coded but who cares just make it more fun to troubleshoot.

But why not just opt for a Ford-specific system? 'Takes a tenth of time it would to rewire on your own and professional appearing too. Ford Wiring Harness
Wire it with only a few colors and you'll be "That Guy".... Don't be "That Guy".

You can wire it yourself, but I'd definitely use a variety of colors, and if you need more fusing you can grab a fuse box out of a donor car and piggy back it off of your original. I've got a second fuse box in my '72 - it has 2 rows of fuses - one row is hot and the other row is keyed to the run position of the ign switch

There are several companies that sell kits that provide re-wire. They have new fuse panels, are properly fused for the circuits- with modern fuses- , have the proper gauge wire for each circuit's current requirements. They work very well but require some patience.
Certainly you can re-wire the vehicle yourself if you are short on money and have some knowledge of electrical principles. Or wish to prove a point.
Putting a wrecking yard fuse panel into the job makes no sense at all to me.
My advice is to count the number of circuits that you need and contact Painless. Yes, they are not cheap but they are good and they are used in many street rod projects.

All those pre made kits are pretty expensive. I've made wiring looms in the past using bulk rolls of wire from Waytek. It costs less and you end up with lots of extra wire for future projects.

Newbie here. First post. Try www.riwire.com. Located in rhode island, have not tried them yet but they have wire that I need for my 66 250. They have all colors gauges including traced colors and terminal ends.
