I think the inner door panels (the window crank, door lever and armrest are put on after those) and the aluminum 3 piece trim around them was first used in 1964 so those are likely added as well. Some nice updates.

On the door jam near the step (hinge side)is a rubber plug pull the plug and ck inside for rot
Leaves and dirt fall into the cowl and find their way to the low point

1963 F250 4WD info.

F26CRXXXXXX / MODEL: F260 / BODY: 81B / AXLE: 24B / MAX GVW LBS: 6600 / DSO: 741542
Welcome to FTE

F26 = F250 4WD

C = 292 2V

R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.

XXXXXX = 1963 (This was the only year that the actual cab style was stamped on the Warranty Plate).

MODEL: F260 = F250 4WD, 6,600 lbs. GVWR

BODY: 81B Custom Cab.

AXLE: 24B:

24 = Spicer/Dana 60 Rear Axle / 4.56-1 / 5,200 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

B = Spicer/Dana 446F Front Driving Axle / 4.56-1 / 3,000 lbs. Front Axle Capacity.*

6,600 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

DSO: 741542:

74 = Seattle WA Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

1542 = Domestic Special Order number, the truck was special ordered by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

4 digit DSO refers to something that was ordered special that was not an RPO (Regular Production Order).

Whatever it was, it could have been installed during assembly, or the truck was sent out after it left the assembly line to have whatever was special installed.

It may have had to do with the "back of cab" equipment. An aftermarket utility, stake or flat bed body could have been installed. If so, the Styleside bed it has now was swapped in much later.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Your decode for the front driving axle was incorrect, so I corrected it.

This is incorrect B code you came up with: B = Timken model R141 Rear Rear Axle / 4.33-1 / 34,000 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity. This is a 1963 H950 with Tandem (2 rear) Axles, B decodes to the rear rear axle.

There is no DSO info available, as FoMoCo THREW AWAY all these records decades ago.

The only accessory catalogs I have are for 1965 & 1966. I do have a list of accessories for 1963's, but they're in an older loose leaf paper catalog that covers 1957/68, so I cannot post pics.

I'd have to read thru all the myriad accessories that only pertain to 1963, then type the info.

1957/63 Ford Truck Parts Catalog available on a C/D from hipoparts.com. I also have this catalog...mainly because I can post pics from it.

4 digit DSO only refers to parts or special equipment that were not an RPO. These 4 DSO digits were necessary because DSO parts/equipment were not listed in the parts catalogs.

If the truck required parts that were 4 digit DSO related, dealers contacted (in this case) the Seattle district sales office passing along the VIN and the 6 digit DSO.

District sales office would then look up the order number (1542 in this case), pass along the info where the special parts/equipment could be found. This same DSO system is used today.

* 1957/60 Styleside Beds were also installed on the following 1961/66's: 1961/65 F100/250 4WD - 1961/66 F350 - 1962/63 F100/250 2WD - 1966 F250 4WD

Here's the pic (lower) from the 1957/63 catalog showing the reflectors, tail lamps and etc. TA455HO posted the pic from the 1964/72 catalog in post 8.

Notice that the reflector in the pic does not match what your truck has, so they could be aftermarket. And if so, could also be actual tail lamps, not reflectors.

1957/68 Ford Truck Parts Catalog (loose leaf paper). Finding this catalog will be difficult because it hasn't been available since 1968.

All that's available today that's EZ to find is the C/D catalog from hipo. Anything else 1957/63 related has to be found on ebay, from literature dealers, Ford dealers, etc.

Speaking of which...

8/2008: I read about the upcoming closure of Pasadena Ford in the San Gabriel Valley newspaper.

I called the parts manager, asked him if there were any catalogs, microfiche viewers and microfiche slides that I could buy.

He said no, then he asked why I wanted them. I told him I was a retired parts guy, used this material to look up obsolete parts and etc for FTE members.

Listening to him, his "Bronx honk" sounded familiar.

He asked my name, I told him. He then said, Bill, it's Bob, get your carcass over here ASAP, I have everything you want...and you can have it all...for free.

Bob & I worked the back parts counter at Beverly Hills Ford 1969/71. When Bob was hired, he had just arrived from NY, didn't know spit about Ford parts, I trained him.

It turned out that Pasadena had never thrown anything away, had 100's of bound paper and loose leaf parts catalogs, microfiche slides, two viewers. Some of these catalogs dated back to 1928.
