Ah..

Not knowing anymore about deletes than I do, I thought the EGT sensor side of things was unaffected.

At least on my 08, you had a choice (Spartan) of installing the EGT sensors in the delete pipe, or not. If not, you disconnected them and just had the empty connectors.

We use a relocated stock one to monitor the EGT's but that's all independent and will only revert the truck to stock if choose to defuel due to high EGT's. It won't put you in any sort of limp mode.

There is some good information shared in here - thanks to those of you who have contributed. The person who scheduled the appointment couldn't mutter much more than it will make it run better.... and they called me as opposed to a mailing / official recall notice.

Will let everyone know my thoughts after the reflash as I get it done tomorrow. If there is an opportunity to fixing the sensor's infamous "failure mode", I know it is worth it.

The question that lingers, what exactly will it do.

2011 F250 w/39,xxx.... yeah, I know, I work too much and don't use the truck enough. I am also now dealing with the dreaded radiator leak,,, but that would be a thread hijack.

If my mode of thinking is correct, I don't think a longer regen will be that big of deal, if that's truly what's going on with the new tune. What I'm thinking is that there is a certain amount of energy over time that it takes to burn out the soot in the DPF. That can be either a lot of heat for a short amount of time, or not as much heat for a little longer amount of time. Obviously there are other considerations involved, but less heat means that less "regen fuel" will be needed to generate that heat. My guess is that the total amount of extra fuel required to regen will be very similar to before. It may seem worse because it takes longer, but I bet the avg mpg over the entire cycle will be similar. Just a guess though.

Mine is going in next week for a trans leak repair (front area, suspected pump seal) and I'm hoping they'll get this done while it's there. I'm leaving for a 1000+mi trip pulling a car trailer soon and I'd really like to feel better about not being stranded with an EGT sensor issue. Yes, I need to pick up a spare.

I had the recall/re-flash done last Friday when I was in for oil change, truck down shifting was temporarily effected afterward, but quickly came back to normal smooth shifting as before. My truck is bone stock and I do not keep tabs on much of the trucks vitals so cannot add much other than truck ran great before recall and runs great after recall was administered. Will be tracking impact on fuel economy, guess it is safe to say it will not get better economy after the re-flash.

Had mine done today. It did not go into regen on the 35 mile trip home as I was only at 60% soot.
I was tempted to drive a while till regen but had to get home to fix wife's dinner.

I also noticed the shift stumble at first but mine cleared up right away also.

Torque App. Quite useful if you have an android smartphone. We get the temp off the four EGT sensors, soot % or g/L, and regen on/off notification among others.

As Bridge pointed out, there are smart phone apps to monitor OBDII ports, Since I have an Iphone, I use FORscan ($5 in iphone app store) and a wifi OBD adapter.

I have had my tranny reflashed several times and the adaptive learning usually took about 200 miles to smooth out. This time it straightened out after the third stop light. That is pretty quick for the adaptive learning unless they just flashed some of the memory tables. This flash didn't even make my gear indicator disappear...
