New AM/FM Radio Install Prices
Hello:
I have been out of the audio install market for a few decades and really don't know what to expect as I try to get a few quotes from shops. What should I expect to have a new, low end, AM/FM radio and speakers installed in my '81 F-100? I don't even need any type of media player, just a radio. I am thinking of putting a couple of small box speakers behind the seat with the wires run under the rubber floor mat, instead of installing them in the doors...hoping this will be a little less expensive.
Can anyone give me a general idea of what I might pay here in eastern North Carolina?
Thank-you.

Doesn't matter, high end or low end, if somebody spends an hour on your truck, be prepared to pay for an hour. Can't comment on your local rates.
Good news is the job probably will only take an hour. There are kits available to mount the din sized stereo into almost anything. Same for wiring harnesses. No need to chop up your factory wiring. I'd guess $50 should cover the extra hardware and if you are lucky, you might find the specific kits for our old trucks on the clearance table, or at the wreckers. Probably much less there.
Not a tough job to do yourself. How comfortable are you with having a shop turn their junior employee loose on your truck and charging you $75 per hour for the privilege?
