Dealer claims no access to software to change tire sizes?

I called my local dealer to see about changing the PCM to a larger tire size. He claims that they do not even give them the software to do that claiming it is am emissions change?

Is this true or is the dealership not wanting to mess with it or some other reason?

Is there an aftermarket programmer for this and will it do the same thing as far as calibrating speedometer and other needed changes

Thank you

I just called another dealer and they said they could do it - head shake

Can anyone tell me what is the largest size they can program into a '09 XLT?

Or is there a list of sizes and does year have anything to do with what it would accept?

Thank you again

Dealerships these days cannot do service without IDS (IntergratedDiagnosticSystem) equipment and software ...
Parameters (RPM) associated with standard OEM tire sizes ...
As noted in the post that I made in your other thread, any tire size NOT on the list would require using an aftermarket tuner (e.g. SCT) for an exact match. Otherwise the dealership would only be to get it close.

Thank you that list is what I needed

I really hate when I get conflicting answers from places like dealerships. I kinda got the feeling that they guy I talked to just didnt want to deal with it. I kinda want to have it done at another dealer and then stop by the one who told me no and see what they say. I might need something there someday so I wont be an ***. The dealer who said they can do it is 75 miles away though

Since you are out of warranty a tuner is an option you could consider
