Bought another F100......didn't plan on it either

I've had a 1970 F100 SWB for a few years and just happened to be on craigslist looking for tires when I came across a 1970 F100 LWB......next thing I know, it's mine.

the most shocking thing of all.....the wife was okay with it.

I'm guessing your wife's favorite color is blue?

Nice looking truck. Looks like the 69 grille was swapped in. From what I can see it appears the lower valance/ rock guard is from a 70 and the grille is a 69.
Any other surprises? Keep us posted on what you find on it.

Nice find and it's the right color too!

Thankfully, my wife (version 2.0) is 180-degrees from what wife version 1.0 was.

Wife version 2.0 actually encourages me to get parts or tools for my hobby vehicles.

Lord knows i did, lol......another thing that helped me is my Uncle has a shop and is letting me keep it there until I start working on it. She's already letting me park the short bed in the garage, lol

I was looking for radial's for the short-bed because i didn't like the BF's all-terrain on them....so i swapped them out for some Cooper Cobra's and just went ahead and put the BF Goodrich's on the project long-bed...with some ford wheels, I believe from the 80's, used on broncos too. those old directional's were ugly

The gravel guard gets tricky. While there is a difference between the '67-'69 and the '70-'72 Ford discontinued the early guard. The Ford replacement for all was the later design.

I don't remember what year that happened. If you had to replace this piece and ordered it through Ford you got the later design without the holes. If you needed them you drilled them.

Two things come out of this. The first is while I, like you consider it not right, it is a Ford correct replacement on any truck that has it replaced. Second is I can't believe the price for an actual early hasn't gone through the roof.

NumberDummy gave up that info a bit back.

You have 2 very nice trucks now. I like the idea of having a long bed and a short bed also having basically the same paint jobs except the blue on one and red on the other. Almost like a little brother big brother kinda look or kissing cousins whichever you prefer lol. Having a supportive wife on your hobby is great to have your a lucky guy.

2X Crazed,Hio,and Ultra. Either she's version 2.0 or she wants something....like say a pool. I say give it to her if possible. Keep that "it's OK Honey" thing a goin'. You'll need it down the road.
And include her in some decisions. She may get a kick out of it. Sometimes two heads are better than one. And who knows YOUR taste better than Her?

Ha ha.

Wife version 2.0 and I took our 15 year old son to the AT&T store yesterday to get him a new phone --his was 3 years old and had a broken face.

$180 bucks later, we were leaving out of the parking lot and I said, "there went my 31-spline axles for the truck."

Wife 2.0 asked me what I was talking about? I said I had finally found some '71 31-spline axles from a 9-3/8" rear end (just an hour from where I live) and told her the money I was going to buy the axles with went for a phone, instead.

Wife 2.0 told me to go ahead and get the axles. --ya can't argue with the 'boss'!
