Glad to help. I finished welding the tank in this afternoon. It was 30 degrees in the garage today. Some dedication, multiple layers of clothes, heat lamps, and some heaters got it done. Thinking of next task now...

Looks good Gary. I've got the same tank and bought it for the same reasons. Might have to copy your mount

Gary,
Are you running a return setup, or returnless? I will be installing my 4.6 soon, and am looking at gas tank options.
Thanks, Phillip

Gary did you box the frame at the area where the xmember was or just at the filler notch?

Hi, I bought the ford racing 4.6 3v control pack (see link below) and this requires a return setup. I also bought a EFI regulator and in tank fuel pump to maintain the correct pressure. I installed the same tank as DropTop since I it was cheap, fit nicley, and put the filler neck out to the driver side. I don't like the idea of filling up through the bed... just my preference.

I boxed the frame where the filler notch was cut in. In the pics, on the previous page, everything is only tacked in... Since then I have welded everything in including the notch, boxing plate, rear cross member, and angle iron in front of tank.

Cab corners, Cab floors, and more

Hi Guys,
I thought to update my build thread with a few pics of progress. I have been working on fixing the sheet meal on my cab. All four corners need some work and\or replacing. Here are a few pics of the passenger side. I repaired the cowl (not pictured below), installed a new floor section with bracket, patched the original fuel filter location, and installed a new cab corner patch. This is all still a work in progress. I ordered some new rocker panels but of course they are on back order.... I have plenty to keep me busy while I wait for them.... :-) ... on to the other side.

Back In action

Hi Everybody! Good to see lots of activity on the site after being gone for some time. My last post was almost two years ago, cannot believe how time goes by. I got side tracked during the project and started sprint car racing on dirt and have been pretty busy with that. I've tried to work on the old truck when I can or during the off season.

With that said, after a little pressure from my family I've finally got busy again. Focusing on smaller tasks has helped me get back on a rhythm. I picked up right where I left off, been working on the cab specifically performing rust repair - replacing cab corners (1 done 1 to go) and floor pans. Once these are done its on to rockers, trans cover, and doors. Here are a couple of pics, more to come in the coming weeks!

Thanks man! Here is my car from last year, got a whole new look for this year. Its a Mini Sprint 600cc class. We use 600cc 4cyl engines from street bikes. Here are a couple of good pics from a qualifying hot lap last year. It is a time consuming hobby but this year I'm going to be racing and working on my truck!

Nice work! I'm thinking I will use the same gas tank as droptop, as well.
He put a JAG gas filler in his fender, and I really like it, but I am wondering if I can maybe use the original fill tube from the truck's original location. I think it would look appropriate, nothing fancy, and it is something I already have on hand. I would probably need to figure out something for a vent line. But I would envision the fill coming out through the drivers side fender.
Just my thoughts at this point. Subject to change in 5 minutes...LOL
My fenders are fiberglass, so I'm not entirely sure if this is going to be a problem...
But hey! Nice work there!
