REAL good call on the new studs, as anyone who has attempted a re-use has found out for themselves!

Thank goodness it wasn't a U-joint, but you would have gone through almost as much work as you already have, except for the stub-shaft seals (and a chance to mess up the inner differential seal)!

BTW there was grease galore in the guts of the assemblies (apparently Ive been plenty diligent with greasing the ABS hole). And the needle bearings were perfect.

Good needles indicate a likely-good stub shaft. Whew!

Can you be specific about the grease used? Yours almost looked rusty or muddy.

Mobil Infinitec is the grease that Timken used, but it's not available in small quantities. I use blue Delo Greases EP, NLGI #2. Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease (it's red) is found at most any parts house, and is also a good bet.

If you look carefully at one of your photos, the one where you mentioned bearing debris on the ABS sensor, I believe you'll find that the tone wheel actually hit the sensor, and those are tiny wire windings that are shown. Kinda messed it up, but good!

I have found that it's a good idea to save any old (good) sensors from your old hubs, as they CAN go bad, and it's NEVER bad to have a spare to clutter the shop!

Everything looks fairly good... A tiny bit of rust but no mud.

I drank the Coolaid and am using Amsoil products. I use the NLGI 2 red grease.

Like I said before... I'm very diligent with an annual Spring "once over" including complete lubrication of the wheel bearing assembly and locking hub.

Forgot to mention I'm replacing the ABS sensors too.

The last time the bearings failed I was out of town. I had a good selection of tools and fortunately I was at my cousins house and had everything that we needed. I purchased the bearings at NAPA but bought the less expensive Chinese bearings. Obviously since they only lasted 50k miles no money was saved in the long run.

Barring Chinese Food me too.

I had to get parts on Sunday in a small Eastern Oregon town (bigger than where Don lives) and didn't have much of a choice.

I was really surprised they were open on Sunday but thankful.

Funny thing about Chinese food......When I was in Taipei Taiwan, very little of the food there resembled what we get in the Restaurant's here
