That would be awesome, Micah. I think the deer and Fall Turkey Season overlap in some areas. Not sure about that, but would check on it to be sure. If your Dad wishes the flock be reduced, I would definitely be willing to help make that wish come true. It's been a long time since we had wild turkey for dinner.

BTW, it's been a long time since I've had any Pendleton, either. That's some good stuff. I've used it for cooking, too. Sauteed mushrooms taste very different when Pendleton is used during the cooking process.

Good, had to twiddle thumbs at the office yesterday for a bit but Happy Saturday. My boy decided that 5am was long enough to prolong waking up so I'm 2 cups of coffee in already today.

That is some serious snow tossing equipment!

I want a set of these:

Found with a Google search for "snow tracker for ford trucks" and the website listed is American Track Truck, if you want to do a little dreaming.

I've ridden in vehicles with this type of setup. I was overseas at the time. Can't say what we were doing or where we did it, but it was one of the most fun rides I have ever taken.

Nampa doesn't receive enough snow to justify the cost, but if a "Retirement Cabin" is in my future, and I hope it is, I'd like to have this setup available. Especially if I get a "cabin" in the location I want.

I have a friend in Winchester and I really like that area. That's close to the "Special Unit Tag" areas for turkey, but those tags are a huge consideration for me to move just a little farther north for retirement. Maybe it's just me, but the turkeys in Winchester and farther north are much larger, on average, than the turkeys I've seen in my area.

BTW, I do believe CDA is part of the "Special Unit" area for the three extra turkey tags. Look at pages 24 and 26 of the current Turkey regulations. You folks up in Units 1, 2, 3, and 5 can take up to five turkeys per year due to the "Special Unit" tags.

Jealous? Me? Uh...YES!
I need to clarify what I said here. It kind of sounds like I said folks could buy three extra tags. That isn't what I meant. Here's my attempt at clarification:

"BTW, I do believe CDA is part of the "Special Unit" area for the three Special Unit turkey tags. Look at pages 24 and 26 of the current Turkey regulations. You folks up in Units 1, 2, 3, and 5 can take up to six turkeys per year due to the "Special Unit" tags."

Tags available are the:
General Tag, for use in the spring or fall seasons and you can buy one
Extra Tag, for use in the spring or fall seasons and you can buy two
Special Unit Tag, for use in the fall season only and only in Units 1, 2, 3, or 5 and you can buy three

This gives the folks the opportunity to bag six turkeys per year. Hope I didn't confuse anyone. I really enjoy turkey hunting and you can see why my retirement plans include purchasing a "cabin" in and/or moving to the CDA area.

Didn't confuse me. And yeah the turkeys are pretty big up here. Last one I shot was 45 to 50lbs tom. But that was when he still wasn't cleaned out.

Sorry about that. Should I attempt to clarify my clarification?

That weight is over twice the live-weight of the turkeys down here. It would be well worth it for me to come up and bag six turkeys. Especially since IDFG lifted the take restriction some time ago. We're longer limited to one turkey per day. If someone gets lucky enough, they could take all six turkeys on the same day.

That would be a site to see and a campfire story to tell.

And a lot of feathers to pluck lol. I tried the pot of boiling water dunk trick on the last one and it helped tremendously!

Back atcha, Tim.

Micah, I've seen folks use that technique. It does work very well, but I think I need more practice. All I did was spill hot water everywhere. Trying to clean up wet feathers was not fun. I wound up skinning the bird. I covered him with bacon strips before cooking.
