2006 Roush Stage 3 Charging System Issues
Hello all,
I am at my wits end with this truck and I'm hoping somebody here knows what's wrong and how to fix it.
I bought the truck almost 2 years ago and got a 2 year extended warranty. The warranty is up on January 12th. Basically while driving in our wonderful extreme temperatures here in Kansas the trucks charging system gets screwy. If the outside temp. Is over 95 degrees or below about 25 degrees the battery gauge will go move all the way up and the battery light will turn on. The first time I had it repaired they replaced the battery, didn't work, the second time they replaced the alternator, didn't work.
About a month ago when it was around 16 degrees outside I went to turn on cruise and the truck lurched forward and the display read "engine in failsafe mode". I parked it at work, started it up after 9 hours and everything was fine until the next day when I went to turn on cruise and the battery gauge went all the way up, battery light turned on, and this time the display reads "check charging system". This one only lasts for about a mile then goes back to normal while driving. The next night the same thing happens, my headlights get brighter then it goes away after about a half a mile.
I have taken it back in to the dealer I bought it from for the 3rd time now and they can't duplicate the problem and are now wanting me to pay 100 bucks an hour for diagnosis. I've told them over and over that this is an intermittent issue that happens at random but apparantely is doesn't matter to them.
They have contacted Roush but they were of no help. Do any of you have any idea what is going and what needs to fixed?
I would greatly appreciate any ideas you guys might have.
