escape misfiring/cutting out
Have a 2004 Ford Escape 4WD 3.0L that has been diagnosed with very leaky valve cover gasket allowing oil over spark plugs. Being told this causing misfire, and thus raw gas in catalytic converter so they are wanting to replace converter, oxygen sensors, gaskets, and tune up...sound reasonable...quoting 2600.00...sounds high to me.

thanks guys
had received this info from son who got it from wife....oil had leaked all over o2 sensors, vehicle was misfiring, raw gas in exhaust, so by the time they replace sensors, cats, plugs, leaking valve and pan gaskets, plenum gasket, etc. it all added up...getting an education here. It's their car but I am the one stuck with the bill to keep them going to school, work, and new grandson. Oh Well....it happens...thanks again

still misfiring
all plugs were replaced, new boots, exhaust and cat from manifold pipes back, valve cover gaskets, plenum gaskets, oil pan gaskets, tuned up and still misfiring/cutting out....this work performed by car shop....so it's going back in...but is mechanic missing the boat here or am I getting took.

If it was not diagnosed correctly, you should be due a refund, less the cost to repair it. It usually does not work this way in the real world. Look for the excuse that it also needed these repairs done. Just sayin.....................Been there done that. I am retired and do my own repairs now when I can.
