1994 1/2 F350 crew cab blows instruments fuse

My '94 1/2 F350 crew cab is blowing the instrument / diesel fuse. Starts and runs fine, just don't have any instruments or diesel indicator lamps other than speedometer, which is on a different fuse.

I'm looking for advice on how to trace down the short or whatever is causing this.

Did you buy a manual at the parts store? The wiring diagrams in there will tell you what it's linked to. I don't have my 94.5 supplement handy or I could try and look for you.

When does it blow? As soon as you install it, or when you turn the key to RUN, or when you start the engine?

It came to me, that my buddy had a similar problem in his 6.9. I think it ended up being the turn signal switch in his steering column. It was a bad ground that was shorting out his ignition switch. Then again, that truck had all sorts of weird problems. It was always blowing out his 4 way fuse, no matter how big or small a fuse we used.
