I had a similar issue of a ticking noise coming from pax side. Was loud when cold and disappeared when warmed up. Turned out to be the pax side exhaust manifold was bad. Had it fixed and no problems since.
Is there another shop you can take it too for a second look since you said you liked this one?

They called and wanted to raise the price $1200 to fix it. I told them to shove it!!

How would an '08 with a 4.6 compare? I don't pull a trailer or anything. I haul a load of gravel or dirt every year usually and then lumber or lawnmowers, but that's the extent of my hauling.

Thanks guys. I went and looked at the truck and it's super clean underneath and ran just fine. The truck has a decent dent in the back passenger side of the bed that would run me about a grand to fix, some scuffs, scrapes and the back tires are shot. The truck is an '08 with 96k miles. What would you guys consider a fair price for that truck?

X2. If they're not willing to work with you especially on a truck that's less than 100%, move on.

I did. I tossed one last offer and told them to call if they can meet it, but I don't see that happening. I'm 0 for 2 so far...

Hang in there, man - you'll find the right truck. I can't believe the first shop tried to get you to pay for the repair of their property. Its not your fault they bought damaged goods. Your money is good money - don't squander it on anything that is not right. There are owners out there who maintain their equipment and don't abuse it. You may have to hunt for it but its out there.
