bed rails

does anyone know the right way to put the bed rails on when installing a new floor,I think there is like 8 rails put it looks like some face up and some face down also how to the shims get put in! Happy Thanksgiving

Do you mean the bed strips, the strips that go between the wood? Is this question about a 48-56 truck or did you mean to post this in the 67-72 Bumpside forum? Please elaborate.

this is for a 55 f-100 and yes the rails that the wood bolts to that bolts underneath the wood to the frame.( I have two trucks i finish the 69 and just left that as my name sorry about that)

The bed strips all face the same way. The edges of the strips fit on the edge of the board that was rabbeted out. This allows the board to expand and shrink depending on the moisture content.

If you do a search on this forum you will find several threads about it. Also a guy that had a 56 F250 has a web page called Earl's World that has specific details about the bed wood. google it.
