I know the feeling Aaron. I usually go 7 days a week for 3-4 months at a time. Sometimes I get a day off at the end of it, sometimes it's a few. Usually by the third month I've about had it. That's when it start to really wear on me. The perk of being on the farm though is I get to see my kids on the bus and off the bus. I'm always around or very close. Sometimes I think about selling out and going back to Monday thru Friday but I don't think I could work for someone else again. Oh well. Only 2-3 more months and I can take a couple of days off :P
I know better..plenty of friends that farm. I guess if it does not kill you it must make you stronger!?!?

oo oo!! My chance to hijack a thread!! yep, we work 6 days a week during regular schedule, but when we are at a show or the NCHA Futurity, its 7 days a week for 4 weeks and the same for any other show we go to. There are no holidays in Agriculture. But, you work for yourself and can take off for family stuff and such when its needed and important....most of the time anyway.

Try a job where you have jet lag for thirty years. On call 24/7 working every combination of hours you can possibly come up with. Then only eight hours off in which 1 1/2 hours of the eight hours is after the phone rings. That leaves 6 hours after the 30 minute drive home to do family chores etc. Sleep? Forget it!! A job I wouldn't wish on anybody, even if I hated them!

The bigger issue is this... I want the journey. I actually really want to be able to say I did that. Its something I look forward to. Just have to get past this crap. Hopefully tomorrow I'm rested and can attack the zuk and get it out the door.
Talked to dad and he still needs the dodge. Guess I'll be rocking the 30mpg zuk for a while.I guess I can't argue with that.

Hang in there man, it'll get better in time. At least you're making some dough. When I get bugged about my job, I have to remind myself that I'm blessed to have a good job that keeps food on the table for my family and a roof over our heads.
I know the feeling of being tired though. We had an issue last night that kept me at work from about 7:30 pm to about 2 this morning, and then I went back in today to finish cleaning it all up. Sure beats standing in the soup line though.
I know what you guys mean about agriculture never resting. I had a part and then full time job at a dairy farm growing up. I spent 7 years working there and with all the long hours and back breaking work, I still look back on those days fondly now. On a sunny day, I still look longingly at a field and wish I was behind the wheel of a tractor, mowing, raking, chopping, baling hay, working ground, or whatever. I learned more about life and hard work in those 7 years than I've learned in almost 20 since. That's an experience every young man should have.
