From the Salesman's Handbook for 1952. The 1951 book says the same. Stu

Stu thanks this is great so everything black that's what i was thinking but wanted to be 100% accurate. Now I know for fact the teeth in the grille are white as well; as that was going to be my next question. So what is the 5 Star thing they discuss? So I just figured out the 5 Star Cab and that is what I have thanks for the pic you got a lot of great info out there that site. I guess the grille and teeth were actually silver on the 5 Star. which is the color they sort of are now. Would you agree with this? Also was the bench seat two toned?

You have an early 51 Five Star Extra, so yours MIGHT have had an argent grille (note that's grille with an "e"), with chrome headlight and parking brake surrounds. The Korean conflict resulted in military dedication of chrome which resulted in ivory, not white, grille, with argent painted headlight doors. I've had ivory painted parking light frames too but can't say what was the standard. Below is the page for the Five Star Extra package. "Five Star" was the base level trim, you have the "Extra". Well thats great info. I will post a pic of the grille soon. It appears to be Argent. Also I'm looking through your photobucket. My bed is in really bad shape. I think I can fix it but its going to be quite a process on my own. First I need to know how many cross members (I think 6) what they look like and where they sat. I may find a pic in your stuff before you reply. Either way I am trying to remove the bed now but they welded a bumper on to the rear fenders and it is making it very hard hopefully. When I get help tomorrow this wont be a issue. My plan is to salvage everything i can that is original. Thanks for all your help so far its great and truly very appreciated. I live on an Army pay check so I have to plan and budget and ask a lot of question because i really want this done right

Great truck! Nice starting point as well.... I did a 51 f-1 about 20 years ago pretty much all stock except for radial tires and love driving it! You should be pleased, take plenty of photos!

Here's the cross member kit offered by Bruce Horkey. Good vendor, and a good guy even better. Stu

Thanks Jafo I really loved driving it and I'm kinda sad right now that its torn down but I know it will be awesome once again. Stu thanks for the link I will have to save a few pennies to finish the bed, but I'm thinking buying that kit will be easier then trying to make them myself. One other question Stu what color was the 8BA 239 motors? I have seen several and this one appears to have been red or maybe even a bronze?

Trucks 48-51 were red. Bronze was for cars. In 52 they used the Lincoln light green. Stu

I made it down there to his yard and got some used parts for my project down there. He was awesome and we wasted a whole bunch of time looking through his yard and talking trucks. Very knowledgeable and all around a good guy. I even got to see his 55 F250 that he restored sometime in the 90s. I'd recommend anyone anywhere near him call in and go see his yard. The site says limited used parts, by I was just blown away by how much was actually there.

Your bed does not look as bad as mine was - I cut out the rust from the indented seam down and replaced with new metal- I am not very good at body work so by doing it at that seam it helped cover up the welds and errors. I had the metal bent for the lower edge and did it in three pieces for each side. Most of the welds were covered by the fender and then I used a heavy coat of undercoating and it looked OK. Alot of grinding and some body filler on the inside and for a driver it worked pretty well. I'll try to find the pics if I can. Have fun

Blackjack, look into City Brake&Clutch, or OK Clutch supply. Cool, another F2 in the next town over!
