It seems the emissions system isn't half bad when the truck is used to what it was designed for. go figure.

I think the earlier 6.4's had an issue with the wire going into the pump, not a huge deal, sucks, but not all that bad.
I'd rather do that than replace 6.5 fuel pumps every year or 2 at 1500$.

Im not sure what to think of this.
when the turbos went out near woodward Oklahoma the diesel tech at the dealer said he thought that dirt had gotten past the air filter.

He told me that he wasnt trying to sell ford filters ,but he said he had a suspicion that maybe some after market air filters werent made to the exact dimensions of the housing. Like the cheaper ones they use at quik lube places. That maybe the few extra bucks for the ford filter might be cheap insurance.

I would agree.
Some might be tired of hearing it from me, but I've purchased 2 aftermarket air things, and both of them were dusting the engine. 1 was a drop in filter that didn't fit right, the other was a complete intake that the boot just fell apart.
IMHO, total garbage and far below OEM quality.
Maybe you want it for racing, but otherwise it seems stupid to have on there.

I could make a better air filter by hose clamping pipe onto the turbo and hacking up a foam mattress liner and spraying it with wd40.

Mine was quite good with the emissions as I probably had better than 80% of my miles towing.

I put 86K on it before trading to the DRW.

so around 68K heaving towing miles....and if I recall <2300 hours.

At what mileage did you do the HPFP?

I think the VCV started having an issue at 83K. We were in Texas. So I had that changed out. But nothing else.

Truck still ran fine but when heavy towing it would go into limp mode.

I had a job 3 08.

Happy days

So far so good for me. 87,000 miles. I have had a weird brake issue where a couple brakes didn't fully release properly causing overheating issue. Had to replace pads etc but still not sure cause. Had a blower door issue with HVAC and idler pulley that squeaked. All items fixed under warranty. Engine is smooth and pulls like a beast.

bought my 2010 f-450 with 84K miles on it and now it has 87K. I personally have changed all fluids and all filters.

but
-there was some sparkling flakes in primary fuel filter....maybe the fuel pump was replaced at some time
-I get mis fires and contribution errors if I let the thing idle for about 2 minutes...keep the rpms above 775 and no codes. I think its the rockers...and will pull them soon. turck is parked right now.
-when I hit 30mph, I get a shudder and if I let off on the pedal..I hear a ringing sound. put it into tow mode and the problem moves up to about 38mph. think this one is a cracked flex plate. they seem to form c shaped cracks around the bolts to the crank..which causes ocillation and the problems indicate. tranny has to come out for this one. on the list.

other than that..everything is fine. I go out side and sit in it every once in a while and pretend I am driving down the freeway. I have some house repairs going on so it will be a few weeks more before I can lift the cab to get to the valve covers to replace the rocker arms....push rod will be changed and so will the saddles...and of course the one time use fuel lines. Tranny will come out at the same time to check the flex plate. May pull injectors while the valave covers are off and check those...and try to bore scope the pistons. hearing about glow plugs being ejected on some 6.4's and since these are inexpensive..may just change those too.

it will be a while before I get this thing to the point where I would trake it for more than a drive around the block.

you folks reporting high miles with no problems....it would be interesting to know how long you had it....and if you have an oasis report so you know what was done to it before you got it.

good luck.

2008 with 174000 on it, bought it with 170000 in dec 2015, Completely stock. First owner was a construction and electrial company owner, so it seen a lot of highway miles, serviced every 5000mi. Now I drive about 5-6 grand a year, so my intervals will be at 2500 mi with fuel filter changes every other oil change. Truck runs perfect, and as others have stated when you "DRIVE" these trucks and give them a good work out they run better than just puttin around town. I can speak for that one , I drive 2 miles to work so engine idles more than driving during the week with usually one good 50 mile trip during the week. Took it to the beach towing a 7000 lb camper with a 1000lb golf cart in the bed 250mi one way. Darn thing ran like a dream when we got there and ran better than that when i got back home.

Maybe now I have a "good excuse" to take more camping trips LOL.

Sold my 08 to my Mom and Dad to pull their 5th wheel camper. Sitting at 502000 km (313750 miles) now. Still running like a champ. Put a BD Diesel 6.7 L tap shifter upgrade in for controlling shifts when pulling.
