That sounds like the IPR solenoid is failing when hot. Next time it happens dump some ice around the IPR and try to start after a couple minutes.

The solenoid is not available separately, gotta get a whole new IPR.

The CPS you bought was it a Ford one or one from a parts store? And also try that ice.

I got the real deal Ford CPS.

Also my ICP sensor is definitely blowing oil. So that makes that one bad I assume. The IPR tin nut is tight. When it comes to a new IPR does Riffraff seem to be the best place to get one? Those boogers are high if I have to get one.

And when it comes to taking the IPR out, is it readily accessible? I glanced at it and it looked like it might be hard to get a socket down in there.

ICP sensor leaking oil needs to be replaced. You can try cleaning the connection with brake cleaner and milk it for a while, but that's a don't-got-rent-money move.

Riffraff is an easy go-to since the prices are fair and Clay only carries the right stuff. Some aftermarket parts are crap, and since he will not sell crap, you can't go wrong.

IPR removal is not as bad as it looks. IIRC the socket is 1 1/8 deep well. You can find videos of guys making tools for the job since most deep well socket are a hair too shallow. Alternative is a shower valve wrench set. I carry that in my road kit of tools.

The Craftsman socket is deep enough to use on the IPR, with a standard 1/2" drive ratchet handle.

Reach down below the brake pedal and see if your pcm is tight. (black box off the firewall.

Shouldn't be able to move it more than a wiggle.

Might be loose?!

Ok, I'll check the PCM and wiring this afternoon. I was checking out the IPR and ICP prices and those things are up there. I do wonder though if the $65 price on the ICP harness is really worth it. I can see buying OEM electronics but is the wiring harness worth the extra $40 compared to the one I found for $25. Not to step on toes, just inexperience seeking wisdom.

Is piece of mind worth $15 to you? Some things you can get away with the Chinese junk, others you may not want to try. I understand the idea of saving a buck when at all possible, believe me, but on this kind of stuff, I would get the best quality. Electrical gremlins are bad as you are finding out. I would go with the best quality I could get for sensors and wiring to help eliminate any possibility of there being an issue. Just my $.02.

Ok guys, I can't find any bare wires or ground issues, the tin nut on the IPR is tight, the PCM wiggles just a bit, and I know for sure the ICP is letting oil by and has a soaked harness, would y'all replace the ICP and harness and then see if that fixed it completely? Or am I still looking at the IPR going bad at operating temp? I know without the aid of a scanner or computer it's hard to tell. Also why wouldn't this turn the CEL on??

ICP needs to be changed and I would clean the connector that connects to the ICP. Did u try disconnecting the ICP and drive the truck that way for awhile? When disconnected the ICP will go into a default mode. It won't hurt the anything. But to me its sounds like ur IPR solenoid cuts out when it gets hot.

Mine is the IPR. I also have to change the ICP and harness since I can see it leaking. Just waiting on funds. Kinda tight right before Christmas
