I need some help with the Vin/Chassis numbers on these 3rd Gen Econolines. Other than the vin plate on the passenger side window and the white sticker/label in the door jamb - is there another chassis numbers anywhere else on the van? If so, can you please let me know where it may be so I'll know how to verify the van when I do find one.

Here's one for sale in my neck of the woods: "1991 E350 7.3 diesel window van. Nice, half cargo, half luxury. Great cond. $2995 obo." (205) 370-1836


I called the owner (Dave). Van is power everything. Dark brown paint. E40D was rebuilt 60K miles ago. Painted grille. (Should be chrome, in my opinion.) I believe the owner said closing in on 200K engine wise. No issues with engine, per owner. Van did at least some time in Hampton, VA, area. However, owner says "no rust". "Half cargo, half luxury" means, some of the seats were removed and the van has been used as a work truck. I grilled him: He was adamant the interior was not trashed. Good tires all the way around, per owner.


I mentioned Australia and asked him about sending pictures. "No problem".


If you're interested, I will go take a look. I realize it's not West Coast. Plenty of Gulf Coast and South East ports nearby. Or drive it to the West Coast. What the hell. It's just money, right!

Thanks heaps for your message - I really appreciate that you've contacted the owner and found out further information about the van. There is one problem - I can't import anything after 1988 and because this is a 1991 model, its not possible for us to bring in to Australia.


I'm looking for a 1979 to 1986 model van and need to keep away from the later model ones.

Thanks Tom it looks good but I want one like your with seats in the back and I don't want one with a sun roof as it rains a bit over here and those types of sun roofs were bad for leaking Thank for your help and I appreciate it .
How did you go with your van did you get it all fixed up and running right. Where about's are you in Califonia
