Fuel gauge not working

1999 F250 V10 gas. I changed out the fuel pump, and now the gauge doesn't work. Checked all fuses - they're good. Is there any possibility that I could have accidentally pinned the float under the pickup sock, or got it hung somewhere? Is this a common occurrence? Don't really want to drop the tank again - but looks like I will have to in order to check/fix.....

I don't think it's common. Obviously, it worked before? Now, does it not work at all, or does it come and go?
I don't see any choice but to pull the tank or the bed and check things.

Yeah - it used to work fine before I replaced the pump. It doesn't do anything now. Been completely dead ever since. Oh well....let the fun begin....

I've had issues with my tank level indicator on several occasions. It's corrected itself over time as I'm not interested in dropping the tank to replace it and my wife isn't interested in me forking over the $$$ for a new one. I've had the "just reads E" but usually it doesn't read 'F' when I fill up. It will take several days and then one day I'll start it up and it reads tank level. I've had some fill-ups where it reads 'E' the whole time as well. Sometimes it takes a few days and other times it takes a month before it starts working again. I'm not sure why it does that but I always reset my trip odometer to calculate MPG and as a backup in case my tank level goes kaput.

I do know that it is lubricated by the #2 sloshing around in the tank so I try to keep it above 1/4 tank to keep it somewhat submerged and happy. My issues usually happen when I run the tank down to the low fuel light or more.
