As I move through this life, I'am reminded of what my grandpa and my dad used to say "if you do not have anything nice to say, its probably better that you not say anything". I have learned, sometimes the hard way that I do not even know half of the questions, let alone half the answers.

Just heard that a black Trans Am owned by Burt Reynolds just sold at auction for $450,000. It was a 'Smokey & the Bandit' promotional vehicle with an automatic transmission that wasn't actually used in the movie.

Here's the link to the auction results...scroll to the bottom of the list.

This makes the '51 Ford truck that was used in the show an impressive bargain in comparison.

450 grand...

Why do you "hate" the Sanford and son truck so much? $450 grand was not a "wise" investment for a wannabe smokie and the bandit car

i love sanford and son i just think that truck really represents the show to me. also burt renolds is 100x the star as the actors on sanford and sons, thats why its so much more.

i wouldnt by either, but if i had a choice of what one i could have for free id that the TA instead of tow around that junker truck.

Didn't mean to stir up controversy. Wanted to share a story about movie vehicles. Wish I bought the '51. Might find a reason to go to Ohio to see it, glad it will be on display.

Of the 300,000 or so 51 ford trucks this IS the one from an iconic tv show. Not everyone can say they have "THE" truck. some people are just jealous because they cant have it.

If it was a 56 I would have already bought this rig.

My Dad had a note framed on the dash of his virgin 1966 Dodge Coronet 440. "Cars can be restored numerous times but can be original only once"
I think the same applies to this truck, I think by redoing the rig it looses its worth

Not sure why you are even posting in the 48-56 forum? Did they kick you out of the late-model section?

What is your beef with Bigwin? This is a nice forum. We don't flame people.

As far as I've seen from his posts, I'm pretty sure he's what they call a "troll" on many other places on the internet. Generally rude and annoying, trying to stir people up and get them flustered. The high post count is what's throwing me off though.. The best course of action is to just ignore them.. Check his signature. Asking for girls to pm him if they want to be models? Hopefully for comedic value, but very creepy if not...

Back on the Sanford truck, somewhere in my gray matter I seem to recall that there was more than one truck. I have some dim memory that there were a couple brief shots early on in the show where it was a Merc.
