2014 Platinum vs 2012 Premium Sound System
Hi all, I bought a new 2014 Platinum to replace my 2012 Lariat. In the 2012, I ordered the premium sound system with the 700 watt sub which would blow you away.
The system in the 2014 is the Myfordtouch system with the sub which is standard.
Anyway, the stereo in my Platinum seems very weak compared to the 2012. You can barely here the bass from the sub. I checked and it is working but the whole stereo seems like you need to crank it past half to really hear it good.
Compared to our '13 Explorer and our '12 Fusion it is no where even close sound quality.
Have any of you noticed this also?

Find the wattage claims of various components very shady (not even talking about Ford necessarily) but In general. .....all I know is 25 years ago my cousin had a system put in a Toyota truck 2 10" woofers and various other size door speakers......that you could hear and FEEL coming blocks away.....wait for it. ......all powered by two 45 watt amps so when guys say 700,900,1500 watts I say uuummm sure

I love music but I only buy the biggest factory system I can get...because no one will ever bother to steal a factory system.
You can always blow away the factory system using aftermarket components. You can hide the speakers and amps, but the head unit will give it all away.
Ford definitely limited the overall volume too much in my '13. You might try messing with the mix to help.

Just adding speakers like these will transform your listening experience quite a bit with the stock head unit. I was going to install these very speakers from all the great reviews I got from people, however I have been drooling over some Focal speakers for while now and aspire to install them instead. (the Focals would be significantly better in sound but cost a lot more $....you get what you pay for!!) My wife might be the deciding factor on which I can purchase...lol
If you get those speakers above from Crutchfield they will have anything you will need for installation. (like if you want to add anything and also the plug and play wiring harnesses)
