Stu, like there is something wrong with collecting tires? At least they could someday be mounted on something.....

I'm a bad influence. And yes, if I wasn't buried in M-Hs it'd be 59/60 F-250 4wds.

Edit: Gary - I'm cured of buying them now. Or did I just move on to the bigger variety? Hmmm? Stu

I'd love to have a truck like Teddy. Wally has done him proud. Stu

The steel wheels, the tall tires, the 3/4 ton of it, even the 2 tone paint is perfect... What's not to love about teddy? Ok, I have to sign out. Been on the big scary mainland for three days, and I need to go to sleep. Fun visiting again, and sorry to the OP for the hijack.... zzzzzzzzzz

so ive slowly been tearing down the truck, so I can start my frame off restoration. im finding more and more rust, but I think it will all be fixable. it will just take a lot more custom fabrication since there is so little aftermarket sheet metal made for these awesome trucks. 1 question I do have is about the front brake drums. is there a place to back them off? or how do you get the drums off? any help would be great. ive enjoyed reading all your posts, so keep them coming.

CJ There is a slot window in the bottom of the brake baking plate, it may have a rubber or metal plug in the hole. Reaching through the hole with brake spanner or flat blade screw driver, you can loosen or tighten the star nut.

I would strongly suggest you pickup a shop manual for your truck they are well worth the 20-40 bucks you will find them on Eblay

alright, I will look into getting a shop manual. also, I will look over the brakes one more time to see if I can find the slot to back them off.

Find the slot and stick the wand of some PB Blaster in there and blast away. Those star adjusters can be pretty stuck. If there isn't a bad ridge on the drum, they just might pull off after the normal wheel bearing removal. Take pictures as you go, not just for reassembly, but there are various old guys sitting around at night with nothing else to do but watch guys with more energy wrench on some cool old trucks. I know of one on an island who has been putting in way too many hours at work to have the energy for this winter's project after work. Thanks, Gary
