Well, I've updated the spreadsheet, and have included screen shots of both the two halves - without and with nameplate holes. But, I have a few questions or comments for clarification:

• FordPUMan: Excellent! That helped fill out the spreadsheet. But, if you could verify my assumptions, below?
  • The 1984 F250 SC XLT Clock & Radio would have had Rosewood - right?
  • The 1981 F150 Ranger Explorer no clock, w/radio had Rosewood - right?
  • The 1985 F150 XLT Explorer w clock & radio had Burlwood - right?
  • The 1984 F150 had black mesh weave - right?

• Chris: I've stripped off everything between "<" followed by "Table" and "<" followed by "/" followed by "Table" and you see what I get, waaaaaay below the many blank lines. I can't figure out what is causing the blank lines. Also, note that I've had to split the left and right portions of the file into separate files as collectively the file is 35K lines and IB/FTE barfs at more than about 31K lines. (Try taking out the quotes and placing each of the previous characters next to each other and see what shows on the screen. )

But, what did you do to get the extra lines out? I've laid the two HTML's side by side on real tree paper and don't see what is causing the lines.

Edit: Then it dawned on me - I have the source and he's modified it to get rid of the lines. So, I can compare A to B and find out what he did. Quotes around the parameters. Ok, I see said the blind man.

 

I deleted a bunch of blank lines (I'm guessing buggy VB software inserted them) but something is still messed up, look at where the Quote and Edit buttons are in relation to the post body.

My guess is missing close-table tag(s) someplace, and the one supplied by VB that closes the table opened by VB for the entire page is being interpreted as closing one of YOUR supplied tables, the extras are just extraneous (as far as the browser is concerned).

Need to be careful when working with html tables, the possibility exists to break a lot of things....

 

My Edit and Quote buttons for that post look fine - at least to me.

Would it help if I used something other than OpenOffice to create the HTML? I could use my ancient Office app - although I'd have to install it.

Basically, I'll copy your post code into an independent standalone editor and try to find all the matching TABLE tags (and whatnot). Could be your tags are just fine and my firefox is buggy, I don't know.

Mismatched html tags used to be a big deal that some browsers had a really bad time handling; Netscape would render a plain white page as a result of a missing closing BODY tag (or was it a TABLE tag, I forget)....

 

The part numbers were hacked off when the PO cut up my bezel all I can read is 10045A98A CUSTOM made in Canada, but looking at the other piece, there are 2 plastic studs coming off the back, that went though 2 holes drilled in the bezel, the part number for that is 6820958, maybe it's an aftermarket piece to mount a newer radio?

 

OK, the problem I was seeing at work is apparently caused by a buggy browser I'm using there; I'm using Firefox 32.0.3 on Ubuntu Linux at home and it looks OK.

Nevertheless, I plugged the code into an html editor, the attached image shows what you're doing.

It looks pretty good (well, it's a complete table, that's a good start, at least) but there are two things that jump out at me:

1) Lots of TD (Table Data) definitions that create empty cells, there's going to be lots of associated coding to create those empty cells and all that crap is unneeded.

But given that it's a spreadsheet that's been saved in html format, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

2) The paths to the images look all wrong - these get rendered as "Click this link to display the full-size image" or some such.

I don't know what images you're wanting to use or where they're at, but I can virtually guarantee they won't be located in the top-level /forums directory (e.g. /forums/Slim Trim - Right_htmlbfyaddayaddayadda.jpg).

Using spaces in filenames is generally a bad thing to do; the html representation of a space character is %20 and that will sometimes be correctly interpreted elsewhere, and other times not. It's just best to leave spaces out of the picture, they create problems.

 

The blank lines I'm assuming are artifacts created by the VB software as it interprets the html and converts it to BB Code; just delete them.

Chris - There are no images in the spreadsheet. The HTML code you see is from the same file as the screen grab. I have no idea why something thinks there are images.

On the formatting, I started with a blank spreadsheet and instead of doing global formatting, which was being turned into formatting for each cell, I only formatted the cells as I used them. But that plan ran amok as I can see something created lots of formatting. I think the 31k line limit is going to make this a waste of time as I cannot make the spreadsheet any smaller and the line count will grow as we populate the cells.

As for the blank lines, I have no idea how to delete them.
