No crummy is complete without numerous empty beer cans. Common term where I am from. Nice build, looking forward to your progress.

My CA truck still has a black widow living up under it. The Western Black Widow. She's a crafty one...I've only seen her twice, but her epic webs make her presence known. We just co-exist for now. Elvira...I'll get her someday.

Loving this thread! Your new Eleanor is awesome! I agree with Ted, this is a funny read!

A good way to kill all spiders is a small Home Depot propane torch. Just burn all webs and associated crevices at night. You will always see black widows at night exposed ready for a good burn. It really keeps everything under control and poison free as I have pets. However, I don't have dry debris or grass to catch on fire on property.

Get some cheap large real thin plastic rolls of "drop cloth", cover the vehicle completely to the ground. Crack open the doors or just roll down the windows and set off a few aerosol bug bombs under it. Problem solved, brown recluse is as bad.

As for the body lift - I'll come on board as vote number 2 to dump that worthless sucker. OR, at a VERY minimum I'd look at machining pucks that work with the stock body mounts & bushings & are 3-4" in dia. Dis a nice set of these when I did a bit of a body drop on my '74 supercab that I can dig up pics of if you need.

And last - no pics of the final flip off during the assassination of the devil's assistant???
Yours is a nice set up that looks proper. The ones on my truck are booger welded and cracked.
If you can post up those pictures you referenced, it would be much appreciated.
Yea, no pics of that spider. Truthfully, never seen one like it before. It looked frikin alien and big.

Good luck with that. when in doubt, bait it out. I hear spiders prefer souls. Crafty little buggers.

Thanks. I am loving my truck and the sooner I can get through this wiring harness mess, the sooner I can fire her up and move on to the next stage.

I would, but I have a dog that is both dumb and dumber... don't want to to chance my moron dogs life. But that is good advice on knocking them out, thank you.

See picture for my dumb dog...

Dumb dog. She's beautiful, but not so bright...

rear of truck almost done...almost

So lets just drop the gas tanks and the bumper. 20 minutes right?

Of course not!!!

gas tanks out! OK that was easy. But wait, do you hear that? Its Murphy's law talking...

POP QUIZ hot shot:
When you break a bolt do you-
A. Let a professional Fix it
B. Be a professional and fix it properly
C. Be a douche and yet again booger weld something.

I have tinkered with many cars/trucks over the years, and seen plenty of hillbilly repairs. But on this truck, to be so short into it and counting 3 of these ingenious fixes? What are the odds?

Angle grinder time!

Free at last, thank god almighty, free at last...

scrap metal it is!

I think they may have been smoking some good stuff to paint some of the colors they did... just saying...

What I thought rust and purple go good together, right?

So I see that truck at least HAD overloads on it at one time, the pads are still there..

Looking good hang in there. And smart move to both of you on the eye pro wear, ear pro is even better.

Overloads?

Yea, we always wear eye protection. We only use ear protection when out shooting targets...

Rear axle overload leaf springs....see the 2 tabs riveted on each side of the frame above the leaf springs? The ones with the duct tape rubber tube (lol), those are the stop plates if you still had over loads on the rear spring pack, that's all.

Grinding is as bad, just saying.

ah yea, I see it now.

Yea, grinding is, I wont deny that. I typically wear eye, ear, and toe protection. My motley crew of shade tree mechanics friends do not always follow suit.
