If was a fun ride!
well after much debating, and haggling, I said good by to the "Jacked up station wagon" (as a co-worker always called it). I had aquired 3 vehicles through a couple of events. After i picked up our 07 Expedition EL 4x4 from my dad, the Excursion had been sitting for at least a couple months with out use.
Well I kicked around the idea of selling it, listed it it on a few web sites, and of course everyone wanted a diesel, not a lot of love for the V10 ( as we all know lol). well I drive it to a couple dealers while cleaning the cobwebs out this week, and crunched some numbers, and got a very fair/pretty decent offer as a trade from a dealer ($5500 from dealer).
I ended up trading our 2013 F150 2wd and my 2002 Excursion in on a 2014 F150 Ruby Red 4x4 off road, crew cab, 5.0, short bed, with 3.73 gears, locking axle, leather, HID lights and luxury package.
It was a bit hard to see it go, but as for the amount of towing we currently do, the F150 will do just fine. I only tow our big trailer about 2-3 times a year here recently due to life, kids, work ect... so we don't tow on a regular basis any more. It's a 26ft enclosed trailer (9900 gvwr, 3600ish empty, and "maybe" 6K loaded). one of our friends said we were truck "poor" as far as what we had in the yard that could pull the trailer, especially with a load leveling hitch.
you never come out a head buying a vehicle, cause they're always a depreciating value.... but I came out pretty decent with them offering me 5500 for the Ex, 4K of equity on the 2013 2wd F150, and 6K worth of discounts/rebates. i couldn't pass up trading.
the Ex is a one of a kind beast and glad it served a purposed the time i had it!

well Apocalypse the break down at 5500 is reasonable due to the LACK OF MARKET on large SUV's right now, and clean clean retail is only 8K on a 2002 v10 with 170K mileage. "CLEAN" trade in is only 5600.... now you add that it needed
-a new windshield (3 major cracks from one end to the other)
- current inspection sticker
- seat belts installed in 3rd row seat
- needed brakes (front and rear)
- rotors in the rear
- bearing units in front
and it only had the small paddle mirrors, it had no power seats, full vinyl floor.... and not to mention i don't think i had 5500 in it total even after a few upgrades.
there's quite a few guys down here having a real hard time even selling their 4x4 7.3L trucks, let alone a V10 excursion. i wish i could say it was 100% immaculate and in full retail condition.... if i can find a 4x4 7.3L truck with less miles than mine fr 8-8500.... i'm very happy with 5500!!
i'd say 5500 is REAL reasonable when you put it in perspective.....

good luck. those 2014/2015 models are pretty darn sweet. they're just too small for us anymore. We had a 2006 and outgrew it when #4 came along. loved that truck though
I've had my 2002 with 84k miles listed at $13k and I've been getting a ton of calls. of course they only call while I'm at sea. So I too may be X'less shortly. If I can sell my X, I can put down 1/2 the price of a 08/09 GT500 cash. I'm feening a Mustang again

If i didn't have the Expedition EL 4x4 as well as the excursion, probably would have kept the EX. I was getting a decent amount of calls on it, a lot of tire kickers.
i can tell you the exact dealer that has is if anyone wants to buy it. i'll give them your name, and when you buy it i'll get $100 back and a free oil change....
