Is the Diesel worth it? - New Truck Purchase Decision!
#16
Here's another angle to consider.....Resale. The diesel would be another $8k, however you would be in much better shape if you decided to sell it or trade it in. A gas motor Superduty will take a huge hit on resale.
Nothing wrong with a 6.2, if you know you're going to keep it. I owned 2 Diesels and now I have a 6.2 Raptor and Love it.
Good luck with your search!

Alright guys...I bought a truck. Ended up with the diesel! I test drove both (6.2 and 6.7) and just couldn't do with the 6.2L lack of low end torque to get moving. The 6.7L made the truck feel much smaller, that thing can just go. And it put a big smile on my face to put my foot in it. So, I really appreciate the help guys. You helped me consider all of the angles.

Man, that was the worst thing I did. I was so set on the 6.2, then I drove the 6.7. There is no comparison between the two. I even ordered a diesel the week later. But then the thought of fixing it fifteen years from now started to get to me. I know nothing about diesels. And when I looked under the hood of the 6.7, I felt as though I'd need to hire my own personal team of NASA engineers to figure out what's what. I ended up finding a 6.2 on the lot that was exactly what I was looking for. I'm happy with it. Its not the rocket like the 6.7, but it will do what I want it to do. That diesel made me nervous as hell.
Grats on the truck though. That diesel was fun as hell to drive.
