Best way to search for a V10 Superduty?

I'm in the market for a 2008-2010 Ford F-250 or F-350 crew cab short bed 4x4 V10 truck. I was wondering if there are any V10 specific websites/forums or anywhere else I may have some better luck in finding a truck. Looking for something in the $12k-$16k range, have cash in hand.

I'd like something with around 150,000 miles or less and would prefer a Lariat, but not completely necessary. Looking for something in good shape with no rust, etc. I'm willing to travel for the right truck, just trying to see what the best way of going about finding one is.

I'm looking on Craigslist but there's no good way to search the entire country. eBay motors isn't what it use to be it seems and neither is Auto Trader.

So, any thoughts? Anyone on here have a truck that meets this criteria that's looking to sell?

Thanks!

I for one hope you have a hard time finding an 08 + for 12-16k. i would not let my 08 with 62,000 miles go for less then $22k. Hope that doesn't sound harsh and good luck with your truck search.

That's why I said 150k miles. I don't expect a truck with 50k-75k miles to be in my price range. I remember seeing one in Texas a couple years ago with 190k miles for $12,000 and around a month ago there was one local with 75k for $20,000.

I'm willing to spend a little more for the right truck, but don't want to spend ALL of my money if I don't absolutely have too, have other things I'm needing to purchase also.

I have an app on my phone that searches Craigslist ads within about 500 mile radius of my location and one of the vehicles in my search is Ford V10, just to keep an eye on what's available out there.

In the past couple of years, I could probably count on one hand the number of V10 trucks in reasonable shape that have come up for sale. They are an exceptionally rare breed. Guys who have them love them and tend to hold on for the long term. I don't mean to discourage you, just wanted to point out that you may have to wait a bit for one to come out.

Good luck in your search.

Your signature doesn't show where you're located but here's one I see about 400 miles from me, in the Salt Lake City area. It's an 05, so older than what you ideally want. But it appears to be in decent shape.

Thanks for the reply, which Craigslist app do you have that allows you to search 500 miles from your location?

I'm beginning to realize how rare the newer 3V V10's are. There are plenty 99-2004 it seems.

I'm in northeast Kansas but I'm willing to travel anywhere in the US for the right truck for the right deal. Thanks for the link but really looking at just the 08-10 trucks. I jumped into buying my last truck and don't want to do that again.

I have an app on my Android phone that I see is no longer available in the Google store. Perhaps there are other ones similar to it. Or, if you also have an Android phone, I'd be happy to send you the .apk file and you can install it on yours.

The app allows me to enter search criteria, along with regions it should search. I live in SW Idaho, so I took the time to setup my searches to include my area, along with southern Idaho, east Idaho, north Idaho, east Oregon, north Nevada, etc. It takes a few minutes to setup to include all of those areas. But once it's done...it's done. Every 15 minutes, it'll ping craigslist. I have literally found dozens and dozens of items I've wanted and, for those things I'm searching for, I've been one of the very first callers/emailers to the seller. I love the app. I use it all the time.

When I go to the list of forums it doesn't give me an option for a classified section or a wanted forum. Do you have to upgrade your membership to get those?

No special membership that I know of. Go the top and click on marketplace, then classifieds, then main index. There are subcategories for used vehicles, and used Ford's.

The V10 is a special motor with an acquired taste so to speak. And the later the year the better the motor. Most who own them love em and honestly probably don't want to let em go until they're past a usable life... That would be my thought on why its hard to find them. Plus you're also limiting yourself to a smaller production section when the diesel craze was in full swing.

Did you try the Commercial Truck Trader part of autotrader?

If the Lariat, short bed, and 4x4 are both required then forget it but here are a few trucks that are above your budget but cash talks.

2010 Ford F-250 Sd, Frankfort KY - 112326855 - CommercialTruckTrader.com

2008 Ford F250, BIRMINGHAM AL - 112523420 - CommercialTruckTrader.com

Here is the whole search query.

Ford Pickup Truck, Used Ford Pickup Truck, Ford Pickup Truck For Sale - Commercialtrucktrader.com

I think it's going to be a real tough find for you unfortunately. You also need to remember that starting at 08 you're only looking at trucks that are 6-7 years old. Some loans have just ended or people are still in them so they may not really hit the market for a few years. Especially personal pickups. 150,000 miles is ALOT to put on in that time frame. Heck a 2010 is only 4-5 years into be sold. You need to do one of a few things

1.) Be very patient, up to years patient, and diligent on searching
2.) Not be as picky with options (yes I understand the last truck you had but you're in very narrow window)
3.) Up your money by being willing to take a small loan on top of the cash payment and get a unit with less miles and have more choices possibly
4.) Expand your year search if you really, really want a CC, 4x4, Lariat, V10 based on the last statement I made about model years.

Sharp truck, not your years but nice..... I'm not trying to be a pest but it's going to be a hard search.
