My liftgate won't stay open in cold weather... the compressed air support arms or struts are shot and I cannot find the right part for a new one. I've searched the internet and several auto parts stores and there is nothing that is strong enough.

The part I need is for the liftgate itself, not just for the window glass. I need the two struts - one for each side.

Where can I buy these?

They take 2 minutes to replace........

I know I have the auto open, but not sure if that makes a difference in parts.

 

The liftgate was opening abut 6" short on my 2007 Navigator. The fix was new struts.

I found several brands at NAPA Auto parts and they had a 1 year warranty. I bought a pair and after looking at them I noticed the rod was a little smaller diameter than the factory ones. So I took them back and bought a pair from the Ford dealer. Been happy since.

I think the NAPA parts would have worked fine and they cost a little less. I just was in a fussy mood I guess.
