Just wanna say great write up! I bought a 2008 F350 a few months ago but it didnt come with the cab lights. First thing my wife asked was when I was going to add cab lights. Ive added them to my last 2 trucks (99 F150, 01 F250), I used silicone on both because I was worried about leaks but never had any problems. Only comment is as WizKid stated was to replace the factory hardware with stainless as they do rust which make it very hard to have to replace a bulb if one goes out. But again great write up and Ill definitely be sourcing your write up when I do mine (hopefully soon)!
Weather and scheduled finally aligned this weekend. Big thanks to Bruce as it made it very easy duplicate. Making the template as well as measuring many times, we accomplished the entire task in about 4 hours. I say about as I did quite a bit of prep work to have everything ready when it was go time.
my_crib_too -- your instructions and research really helped me out on the cab light install on my 2011. Thanks for all the little tips and tricks on every step! It came out great.

What a great looking truck! Congratulations on your installation and glad that I could help some.
Looking to do this to my 2008 F250 in a couple of weeks with a Recon lighting kit. Does anyone know where is the best place to tap into the parking light wire and what color the wire is? I've searched all over and can't seem to find which color wire to be looking for.
