Lol. Thanks. The little details to me are as important as the big ones (in most cases). More importantly, anything I touch needs to be left in as good of shape or better and still easily serviceable... hence screws became a big detail

Excellent write up and may become the 'standard' for this project.

You have actually convinced me not to attempt installing those light on my '11 truck as not cost effective as it may possibly be traded in 12-18 months.

Everything that I read about the 2016 model sounds great. Using the 2015 6.7L power on a much lighter truck. These are great days to drive big trucks.

I should have said time as well as cost.

As far as extensive use of aluminum to lighten a truck - I can agree that on an F150 it will be a great idea, especially for the boulevard only cruiser folks. Not sure yet about a Super Duty that it's a good idea - a fuel mileage can't get a whole lot better then when towing our 38', 12+K 5er is in the 13-14 mpg range and open road, bobtail is 19-20.5. There's only just so much energy in a gallon of diesel hauling 8.3K empty or so pounds around. But that ol' jury of my SD peers will be the final story .....

(we {I?} did a hijack of your thread - OMG!!!!! Sorry)

Plenty of Fall rains here since this project was completed and two no-touch washes. No leaks!!! Lights still work great.

So I did this to my truck about a month and a half ago. Was looking back at the pictures and it's now so weird to see pictures of my truck without the lights. Funny how quickly it seems like they were always there.

I'm glad that I did this project.

Plenty cold and rain since I did this project. No issues or problems.

Nice write up, to me all trucks should have the clearance lights. Look weird without them. Thats a must option when I buy a truck..

I agree. Maybe give a $55 credit if deleted.

nice write up. I wish I would've clicked the clearance light option when I ordered my truck but I was afraid of having a leaky roof when it gets older.

Bruce -

Your thread inspired me to install some cab lights on my '14. I never imagined myself doing it until I read your posts and pictures with so much detail. I plan on doing mine this Sunday, I just hope it goes as smoothly as your installation seemed to be.

Thanks for such a detailed write-up. I know I wouldn't have the patience to take pictures at every step while I'm installing something like this!

Nice work and beautiful truck! I did this project about 5 years ago, although my truck is older but pretty much the exact same steps. Just wanted to calm your nerves a little and let you know that over the 5 to 6 years that I have mine up I had NO LEAKS!!! Now I must knock on wood I didn't use any silicone and I do live in harsh climates. Again nice writ up.
