Question of the Week: Should Ford build an F150-based Bronco?

Also, the coil springs had NOTHING to do with its towing ability. Just look at all the Superdutys and Dodges towing 30k+

I haven't read all the pages here, but my thought is that the F150 back in the days
of the Bronco was a much smaller truck.
To base a Bronco on today's truck would mean a much bigger Bronco. Taller, wider,
longer, heavier. To me, that
would defeat the purpose of a maneuverable off road buggy.

Not completely. Many here have Jeeps I am Very Much a Jeep fan,.. but not a fan of the Current Jeeps. I still drive a 06 wrangler. its quite different from the current models.
Really the Wrangler HAS NO COMPETITION currently.
I'd call it a sitting duck.
Heck I'd call it the GPW!! since Ford has more heritage with original than AMC, Chrysler or Daimler.
X2 1000% todays F150 truck is a bloated pig compared to trucks of the past.
To drive one a typical offroad trial would be a lot more work.

I am a huge Jeep fan, particularly the Wranglers, and/or anything with solid axles front & rear. There is absolutely no reason Ford couldn't put out a totally new Wrangler-sized 2 door soft top 4x4 with solid axles, and call it a Bronco. ..... Might cost Ford some money, but if there was a legitimate alternative to the Wrangler, I would have bought one.

While I don't think the Bronco would serve as an Expedition replacement, I did vote YES, because the Explorer these days is nothing more than a minivan pretending it's an SUV. The Expedition, while still technically a ''True SUV'' with it's body on frame construction, is still very watered down and not really offroad worthy, as its more suited to the soccer mom image.
A Bronco done right would be awesome, a two door F-150 based SUV with engines spanning from 2.7L EB to 5.0L V8, maybe with all the FX4 goodies built in standard.
I would love to see the Bronco make a return, just so long as Ford does it right.

I owned a full sized Bronco and just sold it. I sure miss it, it was great in the snow, city parking downtown, pulling our 21' boat. Even took out the back seat and the wife and i slept in it camping. All in All the bronco is and will always be a great SUV. Ford should have never stoped making them.I have been writing Ford to bring it back.

Put 100k miles on a 1985 Bronco. Family was young then and it worked great. The front seats tilted and slid forward and the kids piled in to the backseat no problem. Plenty of room for four and two dogs in the very back.
I'd love to see Ford bring back a two-door mid sized Bronco. Actually was a little reluctant to purchase my 2015 F-150 based on rumors that the SVT in 2016 will be a Bronco. So, I did all you guys wanting an updated Bronco a big favor. If I would have waited "no new Bronco," but because I pulled the trigger on the new F-150 there will soon (2016 ?) be a new Bronco!
BTW - I just put 150 miles on a 2014 Explorer limited with the 3.5 EcoBoost. That baby was a rocket!

Look if you gonna make it the size of a super duty you might as well have an excursion. Broncos need to be smaller than that. I take my 78 places you couldnt get a super duty or excursion simply because they wouldnt fit.Unless you werent worried about tearing the mirrors off, or the windshield or scratching the hell out of the roof.
