having firestone transforce 275/70/18E's put on as we speak for $925. just came away from bridgestone dueler revo's that were great for the first 25k miles but sucked in last 15k. my other option was the mastercraft courser axt's for $800 but trust my local guy who says the transforce is the best quality for the money for diesels pulling trailers. the wife is gonna be pissed...i laid rubber for a quarter mile leaving the house this morning knowing the duelers where history

on my last two excursions I got 90k+ out of the stock bfg's...
on the 13 350 I have michelins and @ 23k they are being replaced under warranty because of odd vibrations ---
they had to get 8 of them to find 4 good ones and they are still giving me too much 'feedback' I may opt for bfg's again if this keeps up !

I have Transforce HT on mine. The ride great on the highway and do well in rain but SUCK in snow, slush, and, ice. I accept this though because they are a highway tire. I had Discoverer AT3s on my old truck and they were way better at handling winter elements.
General Grabber AT2s on my Ranger are a great tire if they come in your size. I can say that they make a lot of road noise now though since the truck did not have a good alignment when I put them on... At first the were one of the quietest all terrains I've ever had.
I have found the best prices for my tires at Discount Tire Direct: Tire Products - Discount Tire Direct
Best mounting price in my area is Wal Fart. $64 for 4 tires mounted and lifetime balance. One place wanted $30 PER TIRE!

since I'm driving about 6-7k a year in all weather and tow the 11-12,000 lb boat once in a while, I'm going to replace my 2007 Michelin LTX's with the Chinese Michelin Knock off's They're 10 ply 285-65-16 and are $100 each in cash. I can't remember the name, it's Avenger or something. In the warehouse, you can inspect them before you buy them to make certain of the freshness date and the serial numbers. They have some more aggressive tires for the same price, but I'll probably sell my F-250 with these on it. Unnamed warehouse off Torresdale and Wingate near the Prison in N.Philly. They have thousands of wholesale tires. Go during the day. Save a lot of cash.

Tires Con't
I'll look into the new BFG's to get familiar with them, but if I need a new tire I think ill go with the Coopers or the other name that's the generic version even though its made by cooper- Mastercraft I believe. I forgot to mention the Falken Wildpeak A/T I had on my E150 work van that was only 2wd was surprisingly great in the snow and the tires had 50K+ miles on them. Even with the factory sipes all but gone and just the tread blocks remained. They were still meaty & soft enough to grab and go in wet and snow. Either way I think we can all agree that the tires are getting more expensive and luckily we have these forums to get the opinions were looking for to justify the cost. If I could I would run a much less aggressive tire for the summer and fall months and have my Coopers or BFg's strictly for the colder snowy season. That way they would last A LOT longer but I don't have the extra 2K investment not to mention a cheap wheel for the winter that doesn't look like crap (another $500) and then the storage of the tires. Oh well, its been fun chatting with you guys I hope we have given you some advise that good or bad helps you out!

Just a follow up to this slightly old thread. I did look up the new KO2's and i am impressed with the life adding changes to the tire. I have the Michelin AT2's and with 7000 miles on them they still look new but will keep an eye on them. Have heard stories of bounce and wobble after about 20-30K miles.
So what did you end up putting on and does anyone have any new info to add to any tire family or size that did or didnt work for them. I ask because i have recently been eyeing the Goodyear wrangler Duratracs (sammy77) that look pretty aggressive with the sipes in the right place for some good snow traction.
How are they on pavement (noise and side wall responsiveness) Thanks guys!

Goodyear Duratracs....aggressive tread, quiet on road, wear really well
I can tell you from experience they are quieter than factory jeep Rubicon tires, and they are the best performing tire in snow/ice i have ever had. And i have had everything from SS Thornbirds, Groundhawgs, BFG MT and AT, and so on....never had a tire do so good in snow, closest snow performance to the duratrac was bridgestone blizzak but that was on a car I dk if they make blizzak in truck size.
I got into some stuff Off road and they never let me down

Not a big fan of light truck cooper tires.
They are OK. They don't do anything very very well but do a lot of things ok.
Tires are basically the most important component of any vehicle.
For where you live with winters and what you are trying to do I would look at Michelin LTX At2.
Will be more expensive than coopers but they are a great tire. No noise. They wear like iron. Great traction in the hard packed snow/ice. Not a sexy tire from afar but up close you can see why they are bad ***.
