4.6L 4x4 Fx4

1 - inspection problem that I have never had before
They said my EVAP was one
and O2 sensor and Exhaust O2 where flashing Not Ready
I did what they said drive 50 miles come back well this time it said Cat was one now IDK what to do replace them all.

2 - I have this clatter I refer as souding like a Powerstroke
When I had TB-injectors-plugs and Radiator flush 2wks ago at the dealer I asked them to listen to it prior to the service. They said its normal ford sound.. hmmmm Not agreeing to that.

3 - I have what sounds to me like my front end exploding threw my fendrrs and I cant seem to find the problem its if I hit a buump or even ond a rough road its loud banging sounds ... my shocks are fine

• 8 = 3V(alve)

How many miles are on the odometer?

Need a list of the DTCs. *Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Is the sound at idle? Under acceleration? Or ... ?

Where (general area) is the sound coming from? e.g. valve cover(s) | FEAD | A/C | bottom of engine | exhaust manifold | etc., etc., etc..

How are the other front-end suspension/steering components? e.g. tie-rods, control arms, ball jounts, axle shafts, etc., etc., etc..

Today the code w no light came as UO100
Said ECM prob
Prior to that just EVAP anlong with O2 and O2exp or something like that

Also cat flashed code too

That one might be the reason for random truck shut off at a light as im slowing or taking off




2:

The sound come at any speed and accel and decel
I think lifters but like I said Dealer said it was normal but I dont think so

3:

I have checked all bushings ect cant find the main prob just lound and
Annoying

4: also would a high flo cat help any?

I don't think 09-10 fx4s had the option for the 4.6 at all if it's an fx4 it has the 5.4.

 

It is The 4.6l with the massive 36gal tank lol

Alot of people say that is weird to have a 36gal

 

Well could the clatter or ticking be from injectors?

 

-CORRECT- The only engine available in the 2009|2010 FX4 was the 5.4L

None of the 4.6L versions were even an option.

There is no such code as UO100 ... There is however a U0100 (zero rather than an alphabetic "O")You aren't by any chance using a hand-held tuner are you?

To be of ANY help, REALLY need to know the EXACT code(s).

Would suspect ECM issue(s). *.above

Could be - injectors | timing phaser(s) | etc., etc., etc.. Without knowing where the sound is coming from ... whatever the dealership told you.

I don't hear that you've thoroughly checked the suspension|steering components.

?????????? Help with what? You don't even know what the issues are and you want to throw parts at it.

No dis', however, from everything you've posted thus far, the recommendation would be to take the vehicle to a quality repair facility and have it THOROUGHLY inspected and diagnosed.

Yes sorry I was running the Bully Dog Gt on Premium for millage I drive alot working in the Oilfield and have the truck monthly maintained


All Dealer paper work also states its an 09 SuperCrew FX4 too

The Cat would be to replace my factory one seems tho its reading bad on OBDII scan but I did however pass today finally with only EVAP and Cat code the O2s cleared out

 

Its also the 4 speed 4.6l

 

You have WAY TOO MANY inconsistencies ...

• 8th character of the VIN - "8" would indicate a 3V.
  .
• engine - 4.6L (2V|3V) was not available in the FX.
  .
• transmission - the 4spd (4R75) automatic was only coupled with the 4.6L 2V. *ALL others (4.6L 3V and 5.4L 3V) got the 6R80 (6spd).

And yet you indicate - 2009 FX4 / 4.6L 3V / 4R75 transmission.

So ... Either it's NOT a FX4 -or- someone (?) replaced the engine and transmission (which would also mean a ECM swap/change).
