Plastidip...My New Favorite Thing To Play With.
So a lot of my buddies have been talking about Plastidip for their cars, and I wanted I would try it out. I wanted to turn my side moldings, rims, and badges black. I figured why the hell not and picked a few cans up.
I am very impressed how they turned out and how well they hold up on the rims. I live down a gravel road and I was expected to see chips in it right from the start. So far so good, I will see how it holds up after a few months.

I did take the rims off the truck and that was a bit of a PITA.

I did my front bumper and the old grille I had on there (All chrome superduty). It made my truck look like a base model. I liked everything black but not the matte mixed with regular paint. If I were going to go that route now I'd wrap the whole truck in black matte vinyl.
Wait until you go to get that stuff off. It comes off fairly easily until you get into the nooks and crannies.

I have no doubts that it will be a pain to take of the rims. It's ok though, I have an O.C.D. wife. I figured I can just lock her into a room with the rims and she will get every little piece off.

So I think I went a little overboard with it all now. I did the headlights, bumper, and grill a few weeks ago. I then decided to do the rocker panels last weekend. I am not sure how I feel about it, I would like some other opinions and thoughts.
Oh, and it is still holding up great on the rims.

Personally, too much black on a vehicle tends to cheapen the overall appearance as base model vehicles are the ones that have black everywhere instead of complimenting or body colored trim, etc. The grill, IMO, is one of those items as is the side panel trim. Not trying to be disrespectful or hating on your rig, I'm just not a fan of blacking out all the chrome. Not that I'm a huge fan of chrome, but personally I'd do something other than black. Have you looked into or considered other colors to try and compliment the body hue?
