That axle kind of looks like a stretched axle to me? Good luck on the build!

Thanks. And yes, 3" dropped axle. It'll be replaced with a stock height one.

Oh I see. Too bad you can't keep the axle and add the springs! It'll still look great though.

I could keep both but as far as I understand, I won't be able to lower the rear end by the same amount without c-notching the frame, which is a no-go

I'm in the middle of trying to get my truck as low as possible with bolt on parts and no modifications to the frame. I have the down and forwards up front with a drop axle, and the "short and smooth" reverse eye springs with extended shackles on the back. I flipped the front rear hangar, but didn't move it up on the frame.

I guess I'm saying all that because as I get a little closer to putting it all back together, we will see if it all works as advertised! It's surprisingly hard to find many "after" photos or posts of people who have installed reverse eye rear springs and longer shackles to see if any modifications are needed.

Anyway, might want to hold on to that dropped axle in case it all works!

Schuyles, great to hear! I had planned on holding on to the axle and seeing how it all works out.

I got the adjustable rear hangar from mid fifties as well, so hopefully that gives me the flexibility I need to try to have the truck sit level. I'm personally not a fan of the big nos-down rake that I see on a lot of cars and trucks these days.

Be sure to share some pics when you get it all bolted back up. I find the same thing, there are plenty of threads and pics of 4 links and c-notches but not much info about lowering the rear with bolt-on parts.

I have the reversed eye main leaf w leaves removed on the frt, and the Posies 3'' rear lowering spring's. not a true ride height look without the drivetrain or sheet metal, but I figure it will sit to my liking. Good luck.

Hello, I am curious if that truck came from somewhere around San Francisco or Sacramento general area. Several years ago, when I was looking for one, I saw one advertised that I think was just like that. I would have liked to look at it but saw the ad with about one or two days to go before flying out. iI figured it was a 7 hour drive each way to look at it and didn't have the time, and the bloke sounded a bit funny on the phone. I bought mine 11 hours before I left. I am just curious as I liked it a lot in the ad.

Anyway good luck with it all and welcome aboard.
