I seem to be in that state right now with Mishimoto. They do make good on their product but the warranty process is a royal pain. And yes if you are up Temp in your truck it does burn fuel more efficient. Proven fact on a dyno.

Put in the mishimoto on Saturday and was not happy with the quality- inner spring caused problems and the seal was a joke. Hope it lasts better than it looks

Have had mine in for a year and a half. For the first year it was steady 200, only varying when climbing mountains...and that was with bad headgaskets. The last few months, however, it has varied between 196 and 200 now that the headgaskets are fixed. Starting to wonder if it's going bad.

Even if it does go bad a year is 4 times as long as the OEM thermostats I'd been replacing were lasting.

Mine varies as well...same range....it doesn't appear to be an issue still gets better fuel burn than the OEM thermo...

I ended up putting in a cheapo Advanced Auto parts thermo instead of going this route after all the difficulty with the install on here - $21 WITH HOUSING and its sitting at 196F.. I'll take it.

I'm officially joining the ELC and mishi crowd, I feel so popular! Cant wait to see how it runs and what the temps will be!

I just picked one up for a friend's truck that hardly ever tows and I got the same issue.
Is yours still functioning as intended? It almost seems to me the pilot hole should be deeper.

If the pilot hole was deeper it will open later at a higher temp than the 200*.

The reason I say that is when I had first purchased mine I didn't boil it and had the same issue everyone else had so i cut the rod about 3/16" and installed it. On the way home I was seeing 209-211* and the fan was screaming so I knew something was wrong. Came home and read a few more pages of this thread and realized my mistake so ordered the correct housing found the rod I cut off and welded it back on and while hot installed in the housing but still had temps of 204-206 so I found my old thermostat and cut a small piece of of it and put it in the housing hole as a spacer and saw temps of 198-201.

Long story short the deeper hole the higher the temp.

I have since removed the 200* and put in the factory thermo for the summer and will put it back in during the winter months.

Copy that! I got it in the housing and am going to boil it in a little bit.
Now I got all kinds of ideas to experiment with a stock one.

Well, 2 boil cycles and it's still not tight on the seat like the Moto-rad that I put in there too. The Motor-rad started opening @ 195 and fully opened at 210 while the Mishimoto only opened less than half. Kind of expected that of course. I had a good side by side pic but for whatever reason it "blackscreened" on me and didnot come out.
I guess I will drop it in the truck and see what it does.

Probably old news but Mishimoto sells them for $58 now with an o-ring and aluuminum housing. I just ordered a 200 degree.

I may be replacing mine under warranty. For 4 years it held 200 but over the past year it’s dropped so that now it’s often at 192 in colder weather, usually 194-196 in warm weather🤷‍♂️

Ya, after 3 years it's getting a little tired. You have to have the right Motorcraft serial number on the housing and it has to be boiled before you put it in. Mine runs at 196 noe, where it used to run 202-204. I just want more heat for the winter. It good in the summer around 200
