Ok so you're not adding a lot more power to it, just waking it up a bit? Yeah it should do fine then. I'm still new to the diesel world

Yeah, just a little wake-up. I'm much more familiar with making power with gas than diesel, and don't NEED a big HP monster diesel anyhow.

The weak point on Ford diesel at least before 06, is transmission. The cooler for the OBS isn't even big enough for an automatic escort. 06 and up Ford keeps improving transmissions and coolers. I put an 06 cooler on my OBS and it really keeps the temps low

That is one thing I'm keeping an eye out for - snagging up a 6.0L trans cooler. Last summer I towed the show truck to Carlisle stock, and the trans temps went high enough (can't remember the number) that by the time I was getting just blocks from the house you could tell it didn't like it. Once it cooled down and such, no issues.

Okay, so, no one really NEEDS big hp diesels. I don't NEED one. But, man, is it ever fun! I know with my 6.0, with the race tune, if I can keep my foot out of it, I actually get much better fuel mileage.

This is what you really meant

lol, well, all depends on the application as to how much HP you really "need." I just know to make big numbers in a 7.3L, you need big money that I don't have lol. The newer ones, not so much though you still have to pay to play.

Yeah, I know it takes more with the 7.3. You can get 500 out of a 6.0, with just a tune.

The injectors are the biggest problem. Too small. SD 7.3 can do 350-400 with not much more than tuning

I was wondering why that was the case.

This is true. I'm due for a set of sticks this year I think, so, trying to decide what I want there. And, I have a friend with a D66 that needs a rebuild, so I might grab that from him for cheap and drop that in.

Mine the past few starts is running rough then straightens out after a while. Not sure if injectors are starting to act up
